Hit the kill switch when stuck in traffic

my hesitation to turn off the engine is that if I needed to get out of a jam right away cuz of a knucklehead move by a nearby cager, I would lose a few seconds fumbling around to start up the fjr. I would want to escape danger asap. what are those situations? it's hard to predict what the...

    Battery Tender Plus

fyi guys....make sure your battery tender has a fuse in it! I ordered one off amazon and it had just one fuse that was in the battery cables and no fuse in the cord connecting the tender itself to the cables that are to be hooked to your battery. I couldn't figure that out why it didn't work...

Riding Wolf Creek Pass in November

I think flagg is right on. I've done wcp, but only in the summer. it's a long pass and risk the road being sanded. plus, piled high plowed snow could melt onto the highway. I would say "no". everything would have to go right, for you to really enjoy the ride. the road will be there in the...

    Planning a trip to Colorado

I live in canon city, so this q is right up my alley. the most spectacular ride is over on the western slope...from Montrose to Durango. it's called the million dollar highway and does require skill, cuz in parts, there is little margin for error on twisties. it should be open, but there...

    Cold-weather commute

wow. that is cold/hard core des moines. clearly you are a tough cookie. cold here in Colorado for sure, but at least the sun is out. not much chance for melting. when the snow and ice are on the road, the rocket peacefully snoozes on the Launchpad in the garage with the battery tender...

    Cold weather low side

glad you weren't mangled. that's a good tip, so thanks for that. i usually stay off roads after a snow here, due to sand on the road. that too is bad news to avoid.

    Short inseam concerns

just a couple cents to add: make sure your seat has been adjusted to the lower position, rather than the higher position. also, invest in good traction boots so when you put down your left foot, it doesn't slip and slide, which can trigger a "you know what". the long wearing rubber soles of...

Route advice --please--Torrey to Pikes Peak

i echo denver fjr's comment. if you are coming from the west, consider taking hwy 50 at grand junction and taking it all the way to hwy 115 at penrose; then north up to co. springs and pikes peak. you will hit great scenery, including over monarch pass and a great canyon run from salida to...
