    Speedo Healer or Something Similar

I installed a corrector on my 2017. it was off by about 9% and it was just not safe constantly having to look at the GPS for something as simple as your speed. I am now within 1 to 2 kms per hour of the GPS, and that is close enough for me. Cost around $100 when I installed it. One of the...

    Side Panel Repair

Just purchase new panels from Yamaha. Better and probably not a lot more expensive. Body shops charge a lot as I found out on a VFR my son dropped, in the end just bought new Tupperware

    Lowering Kit

Put on Lust dog bones plus adjustable kick stand. No problems, yes it is a bit more difficult to get on the center stand but no biggie. Now I can flat foot at the lights. I did not notice any difference in cornering or going over speed bump but of course I am an old bugger and take it easy...

    Saddle bag reverberation

Any decent body shop can do this. I had a mirror scratch (yes, an oops) successfully filled, sanded, primed and painted, with clear coat, and it is virtually indistinguishable from a new one. I also repaired a BMW fairing and nose piece, both came out nearly perfect, and I am just your usual...

    Anyone use tank bags?

I have always used 3M PPF (paint protection film) on my tanks so scratching has never been a problem, 2 FJRs and a VFR, because the BMW I have is plastic of course no magnets work.

    Anyone use tank bags?

Agree on the SW, used an Oxford, magnetic attachment which I liked, without any problems whatsoever for 15 years, only drawback was it was not waterproof and relied on a cover which had a tendency to blow off the very few times I got caught in the rain.

I rode my new FJR home from the dealer today - Clunk/rattle!/lower fairing issue?

Both my 2006 and 2017 plus a chums 2018 did the same thing. It is an annoyance but in over 100,000 kms no failures so I put it down to possibly the floating pads. BTY the stealership and our local guy were stumped as well. My car (BMW) did the same thing when I used after market pads.

Tracer 9 GT as FJR Replacement?

Too short, too light, too high (nearly 33 inches) and yes it is fugly. It really does look like Yamaha is abandoning the sports/touring class in favour of something that is neither fish nor fowl. When the wind blows that extra weight is far from a hindrance.

What did you do to your FJR today?

I also got the fenda extenda but I used it as a mold and knocked one up out of carbon fiber twill and epoxy, also made another for a bud. Looks great and so light.

    VIZI-TEC Works Great

Absolutely agree on the VIZI-TEC, works great and Bernard couldn't be more helpful. I removed the PAID/AIS and talked to Bernard and he supplied a new plug and resistor so my 2017 doesn't throw an error code. Great service.

    hi from pa

Funny thing is I think my FJR actually runs smoother on premium gas, I know, I know, probably wrong but that is what I sense. Also in the fall when I put her to bed I always fill with premium with a bit of stabilizer tossed in.

I really don't want to open up the "right oil" can of worms but isn't Rotella a diesel oil? I wonder if your wet clutch might benefit from an oil specifically designed for wet clutches, Personally I use Motul 7100, overkill maybe, but the price difference isn't that much.

    Broken part confirmation

I was able to glue it back together with epoxy and a couple layers of fiberglass cloth. First hold it together with thickened Super Glue, then gingerly apply cloth/epoxy, you can do both sides easily enough. So far so good. I was also able to get a good repair to the mirror paint.

    Looking to wrap my FJR

I put paint protection film on the tank, and elsewhere, absolutely no effect on tank bag magnets and it is just as shiny 6 year later. But why bother wrapping if your paint is in good shape, this matt rage will pass and then you will have a job removing the stuff.

Considering a 2016 FJR, but concerned about tranny recall.

Had my recall done on my '17 25,000 kms ago and you would never know it was ever taken apart. Everything is just as before, so I would not be afraid of the recall.

Try different dog bones to lower the height. I put on the adjustable type and brought the height down, not so much as to affect the geometry but just enough for me. The Corbin seat I installed helped a bit as well. Not like a cruiser but at least I feel a bit more comfortable at a stop light.
