I'm back on an "04 which has not much for mounting a rear rack. I'd like to add a small Pelican case to carry or store small light stuff, to a rack. The Gen II's have 3 bolts which would make it easy to do, but the Gen I only has one bolt. I'd like to keep the stock grab rails.
On my last...
Tried the new tire and all is good again. Handles like I remember. Looks like I have a keeper......for awhile. Eighteen bikes in ten years---so many bikes, so little time. I may ride it to EOM instead of the S10.
Thanks for all the advice.
Well, got her all clean and sparkly. Shortened the links to give near stock ride height. Changed the fluids and have a new front tire on the way. Have the aftermarket seat sold, which pays for the above mentioned costs. Recall was done.
I'm still having a problem with the...
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong--
Gen 1 didn't need to have a throttle return spring removed like I had to on my '06 and '07 did they?
And I can't remember if they had a TPS recall. I sold my '04 in May '06 and maybe something came out later? I looked in the Bin O Facts and can't...
I'd be interested in knowing if you have any trouble getting the spark plugs out. I kind of wondered about that, since the bike hasn't been opened up for 10 years. I'm guessing with it having so few miles, and being stored inside, it shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks, buddy. I'll keep them in mind. I'm checking with the original owner's widow next week in the hopes she might find them in the garage some where. If not we can do a deal, if you you can wait that long.
Well, got the links shortened and raised the bike to near stock height today. Didn't get to ride or tweek the suspension settings, so don't know how that will go. Spent about 3 hours just cleaning the grime off the bike. Will have to do a couple more hours worth to get the wheels back to new...
Nope-- I plan to ride it all the way out and all the way back. I'm thinking of crossing the Mississippi without using one of the bridges again.
I though about it once before, but didn't.
Unlike you more mechanically capable guys, I'm not inclined to want to do roadside repairs on 10 year old coolant hoses. Since I will have the tank and fairings off for other stuff, I may go on and change the coolant hoses just to sleep well on long trips. But the brake lines still have good...
I bought a 2004 non-ABS FJR with about 4,500 miles on it. The original owner kept it in a nice garage with other stuff in his collection (like a Gull Wing Mercedes), and it was sold with about 3,000 on it after his death a year or so ago. I think the second owner put about 1,500 miles on it...
I know of this happening on a different model bike. The the problem was a nut had dropped down next to one of the bar stops. He thought it was turning lock-to-lock, but was actually stopping short, until he found the nut.
I don't know, and I doubt they put it on the work order-- I think he got them replaced under Y.E.S. I was hoping we might find an easy fix before he has to go back and hash it out with the dealer.
Thanks for the replies. I'll give him the opinions next time I see him. I imagine he will just...
