    UK model 2018 AS

On my AE (equivalent to the AS on this side of the pond) I also find it helpful during low speed maneuvers to drag the rear brake. Just my tupence. ;)

More RPM vs speedo but different...maybe

My first bike was kick start, air cooled not even a gas gauge. Next bike had electric start, water cooled, gas gauge, man we're talking high tech here. Look how far we've come. We even have fuel injection. No more turning off the petcocks and draining the carburetors. When I was young and...

Considering a 2016 FJR, but concerned about tranny recall.

Yes, 39 to 40 psi in front, 42 or so rear. If the rear is lowered (dog bones) check that the front forks are slipped (approximately 1/2 inch) to maintain geometry. Just my 2cents. ;)

    FJR1300 To Be Retired

Came across this. According to this the AE is back??

Do you all get “challenged” at stop lights?

I also use caution when approaching intersections. Back in the day I was coming home from work on my 1980 750 Suzuki. Enjoying my ride, familiar road, nice curves, road straightens out, intersection in the distance, I'm watching the light, turns green for me, I settle in I'm cruising. All of a...

    Front End Removed

11 thousand miles is nothing on these bikes. I would just go over it make sure it had proper maintenance, make any required adjustments before I would change anything. Ride it,live with it, get to know it first then decide what she really needs. Just my 2cents. 😉

    Changing 2006 Gen 2 Fork-Oil

Just consider the sediment that has probably collected at the bottom, that is what you want to get out. Some people actually do a refill/pump and flush before the final refill. Just my 2cents.

    Newbie needs help.

I believe he is referring to the front tire being perpendicular to the bars. If it's off you can loosen up everything below the top clamp and realign it. Of course I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. ;)

    Lowering

You could search but this is what I've done. 7/8s Kouba links (dog bones), slipped the front forks 1/2 inch, Corbin seat. As for the side stand, if you grind off the little stop it allows the stand to go further forward which solves that problem. Makes the bike much more comfortable at stops. Of...

Interested in a 2006 AE but scared of potential issues

Yeah I only use the foot shifter due to a bad left hand the reason I went to the AE in the first place. Tell me have you been stuck in traffic yet? That's where the AE really shines and stands out from the regular clutch models. 😉

Interested in a 2006 AE but scared of potential issues

I used to use foam grips back in the 80s that did that. Had to change them all the time and when I first got the Puppies I thought it was going to be the same deal but I thought hey they're cheap enough and easy enough to install so what the hell but I haven't had that problem with the Puppies...

Dragging the rear brake helps for really slow mo stuff. 😉

Interested in a 2006 AE but scared of potential issues

As for the AE throttle, the secret is to retrain your right hand to ease on the throttle to find the sweet spot rather than feathering the clutch. Not difficult but takes a little while since you need to create new muscle memory. As for the grip diameter I like the Grip Puppies. They feel much...

Interested in a 2006 AE but scared of potential issues

Same here. Bought mine new in 09. Routine maintenance. My only issue, not being able to ride as much as I wanted to. 🙂
