Mine is now on its way for a delivery Monday. Almost lost it due to some card issues. What a pain in the butt. All is resolved - batt is on its way.

A lot of us are just keeping it for a rainy day. Most didn't buy it because they needed it, but rather because the price was too good to pass up. Mine's on the shelf and will stay there for awhile.

Received mine last week. I added the electrolyte, charged overnight at 1 amp, installed and all is good (as expected). Time will tell; I have an '04 (almost ten years old, bought by me new) and this is the fourth battery. The original lasted 3 1/2 years, first Westco lasted 2 1/2 years and my second Westco about 3 1/2 years (though it's been a battle for probably 6 months keeping a healthy charge).

 
Unboxed mine Noticed it was made in Vietnam , didn't really expect that from Delco....Guess it is a different country from what I remember..

Put on the shelf for when I just have to use it....

 
I received mine on the 9th. The night before Gathering of the Clans. I promptly removed the old and in with the new, as the battery tender was keeping the old one alive. I have noticed stronger starts and with my super stable escort x80 voltmeter the voltage seems to stable. I replaced a yussa battery that i believe was the original and with nearly 60k on the clock it lived a good life. I did have to help the electrolyte as it just did not seem to be flowing into the battery a few gentle taps and squeezes did the trick. Put it on the tender and bobs your uncle. Didn't have any issues with it while at GOTC and the cool morning starts were not an issue.

 
Installed mine on June 16th. Since then I have ridden 20K miles. I went away for the holidays from Dec. 22 until Jan 3. Was going to go for a ride on Jan 4th but the battery would not crank the bike. I had the battery tender on another bike while I was gone. Put it on the FJR and started the bike about 4 hours later and went for my ride of 150 miles. When I got home I checked the voltage. Bike charging voltage is 13.9..Battery voltage with the bike off was 13.2 volts. The next morning it was 12.8 and the next day it was 12.2. I disconnected the battery, charged it again, it would only go to 13.2. Over 2 days the voltage dropped again to 12.2. I have no idea what brick and mortar store sells Delco MC batteries so I guess I will eat this one and stick with Yuasa in the future.

FWIW 12.7V at 20 degree C is a fully charged battery. Anything higher is just a surface charge and not "real" charge.

Before you trash it, try disconnecting the battery cables from the bike and recharging it, then see how well it holds the charge. It may be that your bike has developed a parasitic draw from something that is causing the quick discharge. How did the battery behave prior to these recent problems?

There's three reviews of these batteries on Amazon, two were pretty critical (effectively ya get what ya pay for). I've been keeping my current battery alive on a tender for about that past year. As long as it doesn't go off the tender for more than a day, it's been running well (it's a wesco). I have it's replacement on the shelf.

I've had greater success when I use the well known, well made batteries. Even the moderately priced stuff seems to die too quickly.

 
Consumer reviews are pretty much worth what you pay for them. It would be interesting to hear what the complaints were (got a link?) but I often find that people who review stuff negatively usually don't even understand what they are talking about.

When I bought one of these AC Delco batteries, I kind of knew it was too good to be true price wise, but mine is still sitting on the shelf (dry) as a backup, like blassoffs, so I'd be interested to know what I am in for if I ever do activate the thing.

about a week after my AC Delco bargain arrived my 5 year old Wesco croaked so in she went. that was eight months ago..reads 12.79 in the bike at 35 degrees..

 
My A/C Delco is performing on par with the original GS and two replacement Westco batteries. I've only had the A/C in for seven months, so I can't comment on longevity, but cranking and other performance are good.

Agreed the reviewers might not be the brightest bulbs, but I'm sensing a trend here. I too would be interested to hear reviews from forum users. The battery sitting on my shelf is an AGM from Bike Master.
One trick I use to separate the real feedback from the chronic assholes is to look at their other reviews. The guy who claimed his leaked that was his only review ever, but the first guy is a chronic bitcher.

Fred, that is what I did where I said I disconnected the battery. The battery lost it's charge without being connected to anything. It actually dropped below 12 V in another day. At 12.2 volts the Delco battery will not crank my FJR. Before my 2 week holiday the battery worked fine but I ride my bike almost every day.

Oh sorry, I missed that earlier. In that case, you are right, it is toast.

Doesn't bode well for us bargain battery shoppers.

 
I bought one of these last year. With the 50% off it was about $26.00 to my door. Although my OEM battery still seemed OK, it was about five years old, so I replaced it before heading out on a 2,000 mile ride to the tail of the Dragon. It was fine for about 3,000 miles, but then started loosing a charge even without any draw on it. It got progressively worse, to the point where I frequently (but not always) couldn't start the bike. Once the bike was running, however, everything was fine. The final straw was having it on a Battery Tender for over a week, starting it and riding less than eight miles, stopping for gas and then not being able to start the bike again. I eventually bump started it and rode about 25 miles to meet friends for breakfast. I parked on a hill just in case, but not only wouldn't it start, it wouldn't bump start either. As a last ditch effort, we jumped it from a running car battery and it started, and then ran fine. I've now replaced it with a Bike Master Tru Gel battery (on sale for about $90.00), and everything is fine again. Believe me, all the b.s. I put up with was worth many times the $65 I had saved. So . . . YMMV, etc.
