I was walking through the bike shop the other day...

...and saw a 2009 FJR out of the corner of my eye.

I was a member here back when I bought my first FJR.. another 2009 flavor bought just about new in 2010. I regretfully had to sell it to pay for less improtant stuff back in late 2014. I absolutely loved that bike, putting around 40,000 miles on it while it was under my care.

So yesterday, I had an hour to kill and thought I'd peruse the aisles of our local mega bike shop in Concord NH (actually Pembroke). On the way out, I spotted a gorgeous 2009, black, with only 27000 miles on the odometer. I was in a bit of a rush, so I put a $250 deposit down to hold it until today when I had more time. After confirming the ground spider recall was done, I plunked down the balance, signed a few papers and rode it home in 35 degree weather. Oh how I missed that turbine smooth, rip your arms out of the socket, jet engine spooling up sound/symphony.

I think it looks much better in my garage (you'll have to pardon the KLR on the right) than it did in the bike shop.

First order of business is risers, (Hellibars maybe?) and a rack for a trunk. I Have a 37 liter Givi on the KLR and will probably just swap it between the bikes for a while...or forever.

So glad to be back on one of these magnificent beasts and back on the forum!

Just ran the VIN through NHTSA and 0 incomplete recalls show up, so, I'm assuming it has been completed. I wasn't aware of that one, thanks for the heads up!.
Not sure, but it is possible that the ignition switch recall did not affect all 2009 VIN...

Congratulations on getting another FJR to go riding on. It looks really sharp.

It always warms the heart to hear about someone who has their priorities straight! 🤣
Hey, if you decide on Helibars, I have a set I purchased from another member here and I never even opened the box. At some point they really need to find a good home. Decided to go with the MV Motorrad risers instead. PM me if you’re interested or want to know why I went in that direction.
Congratulations, speed safely, and welcome from southeastern PA!

Congratulations on the 09. I have a used Helibar with all the mounting hardware and cable lengthener (new) if you're interested. I'll save you some money. Shoot me a PM. Dan

Thanks for the offers, should have held off buying a set from Revzilla yesterday.. Ah well, I've spent more money on dumber stuff than risers!
