No worries, glad this came in THIS week! Just checked report for Torrey wed 68 sunnny thursday 67 sunny!
I'd say those are PERFECT temperatures!

Thanks,
+1, Gunny; the 'Weather Gods' are still smiling on us, Miss Tyler is taking that nasty wet stuff back to Kali!

https://weather.aol.com/forecast/todays/usa/utah/torrey/id/84775 Torrey's still showing 68/67 and sunny!
Yup... definitely taking one for the team here... rode 12 and hit a low of 32 degrees as we hit the summit... absolutely stunning scenery and views but holy hell it was COLD!! We are foregoing Ouray tomorrow as weather reports snow flurries, etc. Will head for lower elevations and visit Arches in Moab instead... not a bad compromise before we head for Mexican Hat. B)

I'm gonna "scout out" Hwy 12, for you guys!

From home, I'll ride Hwy 14 over Cedar Breaks, hit hwy 89 briefly, then Hwy 12 to Torrey to meet on Wednesday night, then I'll have to ride it again on Thursday!

I feel so sorry for myself.

Only a few days left.

Take care,

Muchas Gracias, Roberto!

HAh! I already started out. I made it over the 35 degree Cascades and lost a lot of time for construction on Rte. 138. I planned on picking up my yearly national Park pass at Crater Lake, but sometime in the past week they closed the North entrance. Ah well. Traveled on to FJRay and Patti's place. Patti was waxing her blue scoot -- it looks very sharp! No pics as of now but the FJRay's have some GORGEOUS goats! I couldn't help myself, I swear!!!

Ray has a wonderful shop and both he and Patti were wonderful hosts. Ray thought my rear tire would be iffy to make it all the way through the trip, so he mounted and balanced on my superior GENII motorcycle, a repaired PR2 with less than 200 miles on it. Yahoo! It was fun watching him work (noticed I watched mostly). We had a great visit for a couple hours and I moved on, settling in to a room in Burns.

This is my first "real" ride in more than a year, and thanks to Ray a worry free one. All on a promise I send him a replacement tire sometime when I get back. Gotta love the guys and gals on this forum! :yahoo:

Basically perfect motorcycle riding weather. Thanks again to Ms. Tyler and Kali Krewe for taking the hit!

I sure do feel sorry for you poor dumb bastards that have to work instead of riding your motorcycle throughout the gorgeous Utah Park Lands!!

ATTENTION SHINYPARTSUP:

Put that goat down Brother and read this immediately!

There was a huge landslide on Hwy 14 this last weekend just up Cedar Canyon from Cedar City. So, Highway 14 is out for you riding West to East off of Interstate 15.

I'd recommend State Route 20 just South of Beaver, UT; it's farther North of 14; or even Highway 143, via Paragonah, Parowan and Brian Head to Panguitch, UT instead!

Here's a link to an article and photos but frankly the photos don't do it justice based on other photos I've seen on Facebook. From the FB photos it looks like at least 1/4 mile or so of the canyon road is completely washed away by several hundred feet down the hill; it's not just a matter of debris falling on the road.

With snow already on the ground it's going to be tough job to reopen it by Spring.

Thank you papa chuy! I came across a bit north of 14, after FJRay's suggestion not to miss a couple backroads in southern Utah and Northeast Nevada. I lucked out, but I know to avoid 14 on the way home now. Many thanks for your concern. I'm in Torrey now and trying to figure out what I want to do tomorrow. There is Route 12 of course, but also a flock of sheep I passed just a few miles west of here. Weather is crisp but clear. I ahve never been in this part of Utah and the rocks look just like in the movie CARS!

I just got home from work and was going to warn all to avoid SR 14 (I talked to my son who informed me), and thank goodness Don beat me to it !! I'll be traveling the same way that Shiny Parts Up does to Torrey, via SR 20, etc.. (So I won't ride SR12 twice!)

There's tons of beautiful photographs showing up of the fall colors with sometimes snowy back drops. The weather is warming and looking great!

Should be great great riding and great photo ops!

Take care,

If you like red cliffs, you are now in heaven!!

Check out Capital Reef tomorrow if you don't ride SR 12.

I'm looking at Capitol Reef, Rte.12, or run up to I70 and slab over to Arches NP. But I'm going to have to look at Google Maps and see if my candybutt can make it down to Mexican Hat before check-in.

Maybe on Thursday we'll have time to ride part of the Burr Trail (the paved part), out of Boulder, we'll find out how tight the schedule is.

Glad you are doing well, travel safe!

Well, the Gang is all here in Mexican Hat, Utah! As soon as Old Michael and dcarver arrive we are going to dinner! Ken, marcusorelius, Duke the Wonder Dog, Jim in Phoenix, ShinyPartsUp, Seth and Don Stanley are at the scenic and beautiful rustic San Juan River Inn. Riding the Arches tomorrow and we will see RPrice tomorrow evening in Torrey.

ShinyPartsUp has been marking a road map with goat sightings on this trip, he can send you the GPS coordinates for anyone interested!

Don,

Good to hear that everybody has arrived at the San Juan River Inn!!

I wonder if ShinyPartsUp is mistaking sheep for goats. We have the native desert bighorn sheep and domestic sheep here, but goats are rarer???? Anyway, it probably doesn't matter to Shiny??

Thought you guys might enjoy pics of the landslide that closed SR14. A friend of mine from Cedar City sent them just now. I'm pretty sure an FJR couldn't snake it's way through this but maybe a Beemer??

Here's the pics, looks bad!

I'll be headed out of here late morning heading to Torrey, see you guys there.

Man, the weather looks good for the next several days!

Take care,
