Ok..just putting my two cents in and I may be a little biased but Gunnison has many many great loop rides out of it. I'm pretty sure the town can handle a group of fun loving sport touring motorcyclists...after all we did host the Hell's Angels this year without incident (of course there were about 200 extra officers in town! 
)
Gunnison does lack outdoor swimming pools...just too darn cold here! :cold: We also have good eats within walking distance from hotels however, it is quite a bit smaller than Taos.
I'm also up for going to Toas again..great venue, fun rides and good times!

I love northern New Mexico and would do Toe-ass again in a heart beat. I'd also vote for Montrose or Gunnison, CO due to their proximity to countless good day-ride loops:
Lake City is great, but loops in and out of there would require riding Hwy 149 over and over, everyday -- something I could easily do, but there are so many other good roads in the area.
Between Montrose and Gunnison, I'd favor Gunnison for the friendly, small-town atmosphere over Montrose's larger, utilitarian feel.

I vote southwestern Colorado. Gunnison or Montrose would be great. Though I prefer Gunnison as a town, I think the variety and proximity of simply the best riding in the country makes Montrose the best location.
Other possibilities: Pagosa Springs. Durango. Ouray. Buena Vista. Also, southern Utah - Kanab, Torrey, Panguitch are also possibilities.

Corwin and I had lunch in Lake City on the way down to Toas, great road but not as close to as much route selection as Gunnison or Pagosa Springs. But anywhere in and west of the rockies is good riding in Colorado.

OK - I loved Toas/Taos and the rides,not to mention SW Colorado, but here is another suggestion - How about Springerville or Pinetop-Lakeside, AZ. This puts you in easy access for a long day ride down US180 in NM, and up the Devil's Highway/US191 - one of the world's premier rides. Add in Salt River Canyon, and AZ260 and you have some rides worth consideration. There is a casino in Pinetop that could handle our group as well as several motels in Springerville. Also the Ski resort at Sunrise. Just for your consideration.

Completely off topic, but it is Friday: Brother Richard, you are my Friend and as your Friend, I really wish to God you would stop smoking. It really does pain me and hurt me to see my good Friends smoke! I would buy cartons of cigarettes for my enemies (if I had any enemies), but it truly rips me up to see my Friends smoking the fags.
Cigarettes killed my Nana (My Mom's Mom) and affects quality of life of My Girlfriend Donna. Stop smoking now, while you can still restore your lungs for good breathing!

Good Thoughts, Jim in Phoenix! We would need to move SW-FOG 2011 to the first weekend of October to beat the heat. But, if we pick Colorado we will need to move to late-August to beat the cold and snow anyway.

Took me a bit to get here, but most of these suggestions sound good. I was thinking about Pagosa too, but I know there is better in CO. Gunnison would be cool, and that Arizona location would be a new place for me.
I do have to say that I really liked Taos. I ride there a lot, but the roads are great, and the area is just awesome. As much as we did this last weekend, we never did do all the roads I wanted to do. There's just too many miles of them. I'm sure others had the same experience.
FWIW, I would not mind moving the meet to a different weekend. Normally SW-FOG and EOM collide, and both of these meets have caused me to miss a shooting match with a great prize table for the last two years. Sooner or later, shooting is gonna win out over riding, and I hate deciding East over SW.
So, although I have preferences about when we could hold SW-FOG, I don't really care where we have it. I think we will have a good time just about anywhere.

HotRodZilla, Will you take point on finding out EXACTLY when EOM 2011 will be held? Dan and I played hell trying to find out when NAFO 2010 was going to be held; finally, after talking to Barb about CFR, we just went with the September 16-19 dates!!!

Wherever you decide, please keep it in September. Kids in school, less traffic and easier to get hotel rooms for travelers on the way there and back. Plus generally a bit cooler than the August heat and early/mid September is not quite the weather gamble in Colorado as later in the month. Besides a little rain and snow never bothers any FJR rider anyway :blink:

Bugnatr, if we go with Colorado, it will be in August! It snowed on pinhead and Mountain Mama's Wedding Day a few years ago and that was on Labor Day (post up some pictures, Dave!). It snowed on Big-D and Papa Chuy, the fourth week of August in 2009. We are not going to chance Colorado in September! Rain es no problemo, ice and snow are entirely different!

I also agree that it is nice to see other places and love riding other roads. I also like Bugnatr's suggestion of keeping it in September after school has started. Hadn't really thought about that...yet! Good idea!
