    Michelin Pilot Road 3

My experience with tires seems to jibe with Top_Speed1's info. With the Bridgestone 023, I got 10 K miles, with the Michelin PR2 14 K miles, and with the PR3, 11 K miles. My local shop charges the same +- for each of these tires and I did not notice any performance degradation with the PR2s...

    Question for WSB at Laguna...

I used to go and we always sat in turn 4 grandstands. There is an econolodge in Salinas which was reasonable and we used. Finally, we took the free bus to the track which was very convenient and had fast access to the track. Unless you have motorcycle parking at the track, ride the bus. And...

Lunch Ride-President's Day, FEB 18, 10am; Son Seth's out of school, K16 Gisele needs a ride!

Sorry I missed this ride but this was the first notice I had. I try to check at least once a day for everything that has posted since my last log on but totally missed the notice. Oh well! What should I be doing to receive these notices? Oh, What was the destination? Is that Judy's Cook...

    Dunlop Qualifier Tires

New Qualifiers were mounted on my used FJR when I bought it. 5k miles and I switched to Bridgestone 023s They (Qualifiers) were good while they lasted but I need 10k miles out of a set and both Bridgestone and Michelin pr2 or 3s deliver.

    Death Valley Advice

I was at the FODS gathering in DV last year on my FJR. The ride up was great and we stayed at the Longstreet Casino as mentioned earlier. Reasonable accommodations and close to the DV entrance. The next day a front moved in and most of us left a day early. Winds were very bad all the way...

    Riding in the Cold

I do a weekly breakfast ride out of Phoenix to Payson and sometimes Pine, AZ. Last week the temps started at 45 F +- and dropped to the mid 30s as we headed into the mountains. As we reached Payson, the temps headed to the mid 20s but the streets were clear and dry. As we headed to Pine, the...

    Duke has passed RIP

Marcus, It was too sad to hear that the Duke will no longer ride with his FJR friends. But he did see more of the world than most people and he was the greatest "chick" magnet ever. He leaves us with great memories, and great videos as well. I know you're hurting and you have all our...

    Who's dropped their FJR?

When I was gassing up several days ago, a kid came over to talk and asked me, "What is the most dangerous speed for that motorcycle?" I answered, "0 MPH." It seems to me, that the OEMs should be able to engineer in crash protection for low or no speed drops. Mirrors that fold rather than...

    Who's dropped their FJR?

2 drops here. First was on black ice at 2 MPH. Total surprise and I was down so fast my feet were still on the pegs as I was sliding on the ice. Scratches on the fairing, mufflers, broken mirror. Fortunately on a group ride and friends picked up the bike off my leg. Second was another group...

    How to Lift a Motorcycle

On a ride with 5 other bikes a month ago, I was the 3rd rider, and when the leader made an unexpected stop in a curve, I ended up stopping in the road with a significant slope. By the time my left foot hit the ground, the FJR was already on its way to the ground - at 0 MPH. We had just stopped...

I'll talk to Marie about this, and since it is up our way, we should be able to join the celebration.

Forum Zonies ride with Jim - Fontanaman on Friday 11/16

Tentatively in. Lots of sweepers and 10% grades. Some really big open pit mines - this is copper country.

    I can see!....behind me!

My OEM mirrors folded, but not enough to save them from breaking when the bike was dropped in a 0 MPH "crash". It seems the OEM FZ1 mirrors do not fold - or at least they do not under "gentle persuasion". Worse, the support under the plastic tends to bend and is very difficult to bend back...
