What do you mean by hand levers adjusted properly? They "feel" right.. are you referring to the measurement that, when the lever is pushed, the clutch is out so many inches? I have a silly question - why would this just appear in the low gears? Why wouldn't it be in the high gears as well?

Would it be possible to rivet these to the top case itself (I presume here that rivet's provide some level sealing capability)?

I do like the pouch idea - and I'd probably be velcoing to the side/bottom of the top case (non movable side).  One thing I've been thinking about itnernally is just having a tote velcro'd down the the top case.  I just dont know how to secure items within the tote
