I had a '97 XX that I sold last fall and then ended up with an '03 FJR - not planned that way but life has many different paths..... The XX compared to the FJR is: Lighter Faster from 0-100 (pulls like a fright train) Less weather protection poorer egos Almost non adjustable suspension 3x...

I had one way back in the late 90's. They are a great all around bike. You will get 50-60K miles on the engine. The only bad about this bike is: Can be buzzy at highway speeds Will leak oil from the cyclendar head Takes forever to warm up - Jeff

Great story and a great bike. I have a 01 SV650S that I use as my daily driver to work, etc. - the SV does everything very well. But it can, and I have done 300 mile days with out thinking twice about about. Long live the UJM.

Anyone ever put a 04+ storage compartment on an 03? Will it fit on the left side panel area? I do not care if it locks when turned on or off, just that it will close - Jeff

Rode home tonight with a temp of 22F. And yes - it was cold.... Welcome to the Forum

Rode for about 2 hours today. Upper 30's and a bit of sun - but very windy. Then put the FJR to sleep for the winter.

I just bought 4 yesterday at Ace hardware - $0.13 a washer. Yahama will charge you $1.30 a washer.
