Farewell to FJR world and this forum

As you may have read in an earlier post, my 06 was stolen in San Diego on October 15. :ranting2: Sucks, but such is life. I have decided not to get another bike at all. :shok: The reason is that I have accepted a new position within my company on a different account. The new...

    06 Stolen in San Diego

I'll edit this post this evening with Serial Number, but my 06 was stolen over the weekend from my (gated) apartment complex parking garage. Make sure you have your theft coverage. As times get tougher, thefts go way up. Since I'm looking at a transfer to Singapore in the near future, I don't...

Please Help, I need Pictures of TwoWheelNut

Add whatever photos you want out of this group of them, from the July 1, 2007 group ride out of Ojai. As you'd expect, Tim is in several of them. They are all in their original (large) format. Don't bother if you're on dialup. https://gellenbeck.com/rlg/Daddy%20Californ...jai%2007012007/

    We Lost A Great Friend

Tim was a fixture on the SoCal rides. I'm numb at the news, I can still see him as if it were yesterday. Another giant has left us this year. Be at peace, old friend. Ray

    Borrego Springs

I fly out the next morning, so if you promise to bring me home in one piece, I'm in. Driving up from Mission Valley that morning. New rubber, new brakes, new fluids, missing GPS (frickin' thieves), the steed is ready once again to party. MIGHT have a passenger.

    San Diego cops gone wild

It's almost unnerving how many posters on this board are current or former members of the LEO community (whistling, eyes upward). Yes, my fair city (San Diego) is entering the height of tourism season, and the 8 (which my apartment door faces along the Hotel Circle section) is quite busy lately...

    "San Diego ride"

If I get new front rubber, brakes and oil on board in time, I'll dust her off and join ya, riding up from Mission Valley by the Riverwalk golf course, coming up 163 to make the rally point. No bags, no GPS (stolen), no intercom mic (rotted), just iPhone and its iPod music blaring in my ears, a...

    Unlike the Midwest...

Am I the only one who finds it hilarious that Minneapolis is spelled wrong? Having lived there from 4/06 through 9/06, I am glad I escaped with the FJR before the cold weather came. Despite multiple recruiter attempts to get me to come back, now that I've found San Diego, they'll never take me...

    2008 Annual Clan Gathering

(stepping out of his cave)... I have returned. I would like to add my name to the camping list. I'll either dig up some of my old military gear or just re-fit via craig's list. Please advise what, if anything, you need from me in advance. Glad to be back in the land of the living.

GPS stolen, time to decide on new one...

FJRchick, I got an iPhone last July. While it's great, it sucks balls while on the bike for two reasons... 1. I wear gloves usually, and the screen usually will not respond to the touch of a gloved hand, it requires the electrical resistance of your skin to operate the screen. I have one...

GPS stolen, time to decide on new one...

Thanks to all for the posts. The decision now is between a used 2820 someone has offered and a new Zumo 550. One plus I see to the zumo is easier undocking, making it less excuse for lazy asses like Rayban to leave it in their car or on their bike...doh. Funny, of all the times I left it on...

GPS stolen, time to decide on new one...

If so, I mis-read the garmin site, as I thought it ONLY came with motorcycle mounting. Does the car material include a cig-lighter plug and speaker, or does one have to do some wiring into the accessory circuit of the car?

GPS stolen, time to decide on new one...

As most of you older-timers know, I was a happy fan of the Garmin StreetPilot 2820. I had the optional XM atenna and got both XM radio and XM traffic for it and enjoyed it on long trips. I envied some of the features of the Zumo when it came out, but couldn't rationalize the loss I'd take...
