Great thread Howie. I enjoyed your step-by-step process of mounting and installation. I must admit...I'm a darksider too. I installed my 195/55/16 on the Wing a couple of weeks ago and love it. Smoother ride, much more quiet and grips in the wet like nothing I've ever ridden on. I'm liking it.

I'm using a 2720 with an old 2610 for data backup. I've also looked at many of the new GPS units and have decided the 2720 works just great. You can still find them on ebay for around $200.

You didn't say how many miles are on the bike. Routinely the smells previously mentioned will go away with riding, however, one doesn't and that's the stator burning. The stator will start "cooking" with an overload situation. Do you have a lot of amps being used by accessories? Mine smelled...
