Need to check my notes. Pretty sure 1st set of GTs (A spec) went 12k miles. 42/45 F/R. 80/20 solo/2up. Im 185lbs. Front was fugly (high/low funky tread block wear) but useable last 2k-ish miles. Rear was into the bars. 2nd set now has 2k on em.
Probly the easiest Ive been in general on a set of...
Zero speed drop to the right. Scratched mirror and RH lower fairing a little. Slight bend in muffler at clamp (slip ons). Gonna live with it.
Injured right shoulder 18 mos ago slip-n-fall on icy steps. Still fighting it.
Was just riding to work. Stopped to pull out on divided highway from stop...
Mine latest had the OEM touring screen on it when I got it. As the previous reply-it lives on the bike in the summer & the VStream fall-winter-spring. I am pretty tall/skinny and feel the touring screen coverage is similar to the standard to somebody more standard sized.
Free country-everyone is entitled to their own opinion-this is not intended to slam ANY body.
Last season was trying to explain to a relative youngster (just 30sumthin on an R1) what bike tires were like in the 80s and what it felt like to ride hard on them. Corners that I slid around then are...
Unplugged/unhooked the battery tender after noting that my blushing bride had plugged that extension cord into a timer and ganged it w/some XMas lights...
Cleaned/lubed the pedals & the levers. While I was at it installed an R1 shift arm. Slight wear showing on the top boss of my Chinese 6way adj clutch lever, black anodized blocks are fading titanium-ish (matches the levers). Just rode 150 miles to make sure they still worked.
Shifting action...
Bearing in mind this is NEPRT. Been legally driving since '78, riding since '80, tearing shite apart and putting it back together as long as I can remember.
Was around in the bad good ol' days of manufacturers struggling with emissions standards with primitive technology by today's standards...
3rd season on my RF1200. Still occasionally don't get the shield ratchet foot down in the hole properly.
Primarily got it in search of relative peace & quiet without earplugs. Still haven't figured out why my FJR is quieter wind noise-wise helmetless...
The chin curtain is getting pretty...
I may have the rigid arm type and a small plate mount (think PO put Velcro on it) in the archives. The stem nut is long gone. Will take a peek. If I still have it, can email pics direct and is yers if ya think it will work the way you want it to.
Mine has acted weird a couple times. Am not looking at it (drove to work today) but I have had several occasions when the ratchet mechanism hadn't dropped completely into position properly. Symptoms were exactly what you've described.
jammess;
They get ugly on the bottom really quickly. My '15 (10k-ish miles, 2nd winter) relay arm & links are pretty ugly with oxidation. Misc hardware (punkin fill plug) sheds it plating pretty quickly.
I usually only do 1500-2000 miles in the winter, but wouldn't give it up for less...
Today just looked at it. Although have been getting a lot of riding in this month for being in NW Ohio. Been a few days since I've checked in here-access to a closed drag strip is scary awesome-and something I have never heard of before.
Wiped the top layer of winter grime off to get ready and put a fresh layer back on riding to work this afternoon.
Already scoped a path out the driveway to avoid the snow.
Scoped out some new flaked/dull spots on various hardware from all the salt, and again failed miserably in being concerned...
