2006 Gen II - runs rough between 2k and 3k RPM...unless cooling fans are running

Regulator/Rectifier tests A-OK, with digital multimeter. Voltage at idle is actually 13.4 volts and up to 13.8 while running the RPM's up. Initially, multiple tests showed 13.2 volts at idle and then jumping UP to 13.4 volts when the fans would kick on! However, testing again a fifth and...

Can someone tell me where the R/R is on the Gen II bikes?

2006 Gen II - runs rough between 2k and 3k RPM...unless cooling fans are running

Same issues with Power Commander completely removed. I am not getting close to 14V, more like 12.8. with the bike running - bad battery or other charging system component? The battery terminals have been gone over with some sandpaper and cleaned with electrical component cleaner and are...

2006 Gen II - runs rough between 2k and 3k RPM...unless cooling fans are running

I know, this is insane. But it's true. I've been going round and round with my bike trying to figure out what this issue is. 2006 gen II ~44k miles -new plugs -newish battery -new air filter -throttle bodies synched -fuel injectors removed and professionally cleane -TPS replaced...

Ring Free VS Ring Free Plus

If I could have posted this in NEPRT, I would have. I've searched and searched (this site and elsewhere). In the past I purchased and used Yamalube Ring Free, which states on the packaging to use 1oz per 10 gallons for maintenance and 2oz per gallon for 'shock treatment'. I recently ordered...

Help? 2006 - just installed Power commander v - running like CRAP!

After some research on similar problems, I installed a brand-new battery. No dice. I checked the Throttle Position Sensor via the diag screen and all looked fine, but as I understand it, that may not be definitive. AND, I should note, I disconnected the PC and seem to be having the same...

Help? 2006 - just installed Power commander v - running like CRAP!

Thanks y'all. I'm going to clean the connectors with electric connector cleaner and double-check ground, although I'm pretty sure it's firmly secured to the negative post on the battery.

Help? 2006 - just installed Power commander v - running like CRAP!

Man do I feel stupid. Completely misinformed on dielectric grease. It's amazing that most of my shit runs at all.

Help? 2006 - just installed Power commander v - running like CRAP!

Installed per instructions, disconnected O2 sensor (subsequently tried reconnecting), reset throttle position. Idles just fine. When pulling away in 1st gear it's totally running awful, almost like it's running out of gas. I had done the barbarian mod before - make any difference? I used...

That's a bummer, but yeah, the entry fee was/is a bit steep.

What did you do to your FJR today?

PAIR system removed, WynPro plates in stalled, oil and filter changed, Barbarian Jumper Mod done, and Throttle Body Sync all in 100+ degree garage. Then a short ride with a few trips to 8k rpm.

    power commander alternative

Yes, I searched first. Is there a good power commander alternative? I find their lack of software for mac and iPhone straight-up irritating (they seem to have a new app only on google play (android) that lets you adjust maps on the fly). It seems TwoBrothers, whose cans I have on my '06...

    2006 Rescue - Project Log

"...that is if the prior owner babied the engine too much and allowed carbon to build up on the exhaust valve seats and valve faces." That is exactly what I was told the PO did and they concluded that caused the 'glazing'.

    2006 Rescue - Project Log

Hey! Quick update. Thanks for all your comments and advice! I was out of town for a few days, so not working on the bike. Monday night, I got it back together enough (no hanging wires, heat shield and T-brace in place, gas tank bolted down, etc.) to give it a little test ride. I followed...

    2006 Rescue - Project Log

The bike started and ran pretty normally last night. I did not ride it. Were there any GEN II tickers? The engine sounds pretty noisy; tap, tap, tap, tap.... I'll get some video up next week, heading out on a fly fishing trip through Monday!
