    EZPass transponder

Anyone mount an EZPass transponder on their FJR? And if so, where did you mount it?

Old enough to remember when WD-40 came out in 1964? From Popular Mechanics Magazine!

Yep. WD-40 stands for "Water Displacement, 40th Formula". Originally designed for rocket fuel tanks to prevent corrosion. I used to work for the company in San Diego that designed it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WD-40

    I did it.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes and well wishes. Also thanks for the ideas on sliders and cages. I might do what "Pie Smuggler" suggested and get the 2013 grey foot guards and have them painted to match the 2014 red. I have the ES model, so hopefully there isn't any difference in mounting...

    I did it.

I've been thinking about that. I might go with the Yamaha frame sliders that are made for the FJR. I really wish they had the foot wind deflectors for the 2014 model (red). They have the grey ones for the 2013 model, but no red. The Yamaha frame sliders go with the foot deflectors and make it...

Picked up my 2014 ES yesterday. Put 80 miles on yesterday and commuted into work today on it. Absolutely beautiful machine. I'm giddy!!!

Cold Weather Riding on the FJR

MNFJR05, how did you get the factory Yamaha footguards? I can see them on the Europe website accessories, but I don't see them on Yamaha's US website. Was your local dealer able to get them? Actually, I was able to find the OEM set for the '13. Can't find them for the '14 in Red.

    Good info all. Thanks.

    Fuel efficiency of the FJR

The sticker for the 2014 ES model is $16,890 I believe. So the dealer I'm looking to purchase from is offering $3,400 below sticker.

    Fuel efficiency of the FJR

Thanks OldButNotDead. Curious why you chose the A model over the ES for your new bike. Was it simply the cost difference, or was there other considerations?

    Fuel efficiency of the FJR

Thanks Loopy. While fuel economy is not my prime objective, it is always a concern. I would love to have the FJR be my preferred mode of travel for commuting when the weather cooperates. My commute is 40 miles one way. I would hope that it would be more efficient than my car. But I currently...

    Fuel efficiency of the FJR

Yamaha's published specs for the FJR indicate a fuel efficiency of 36 mpg. How accurate is that based on everyones experience? I have read in this forum of owners getting 46 mpg. Curious what to believe. I'm planning on purchasing a new 2014 ES next week. Great deal going into winter. $13,496.00...

    EOM 2015 - Location Discussion

How about moving date to mid August and going to central PA. State College has a ton of hotels and restaurants. Some beautiful country to ride in any direction. Lots of variability in terrain and roads and sights. Explore north for Grand Canyon of PA. Go south along the Susquehanna River. Go...
