May 11-14, 2012 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, AND Monday!) SE Ohio Ramble (2 riding days this year)
(Note the dates above...different than originally advertised.)
You can stay anywhere you like, but we'll be based out of the Best Western in Caldwell, OH. LINK
I've got Friday night through Sunday night booked...checking out Monday. My advice: get your rooms booked ASAP...I have no idea how many they have.
Friday - Travel day
Saturday - day loop to the east of the interstate
Sunday - day loop to the west into the Hocking Hills region
Monday - get home day
Like all Rambles, there are no room discounts, no event fees, no organized dinners (a restaurant is within walking distance), no speeches, no nuthin'...just riding and having a good time with your FJR friends, and maybe a cold beverage after the ride.
This is one of my favorite places to ride...so although I hate organizing stuff, I end up doing it nearly every year.
Both loops WILL be based out of Caldwell so as to minimize packing/unpacking. If you can only join us for one of the two days...that's fine. HOWEVER, you will weep at the missed twisty roads if you miss one of these days.
If you're signing up and coming, make a motel reservation and let me know about it. I'll add you to the list below. You won't be sorry. Guaranteed fun.
The finalized routes are now completed for Saturday and Sunday's loop. and I have gpx files to send out to those that want them. I have some jpeg files from MS S&T of the routes...they are included below.
As a recap, remember that we are doing two days of Ramble this year. Saturday will be east of the Interstate, and Sunday will be west of the Interstate over to the Hocking Hills area.
Saturday - East Route, 312 miles (plus/minus)
East loop - western half of loop
East Loop - eastern half of loop
East route - beginning and end of route
County Roads at beginning of route- "zoomed in view"
At Overlook, just off of 536
East Route - northeast portion of route
EAST LOOP TURN DIRECTIONS
Sunday - West Route to Hocking Hills, 347 miles (plus/minus)
West route - beginning and end of route
Glouster and points west
West Route - Hocking Hills area
Lake Hope-Athens area
West Route - Athens/555 portion
WEST LOOP TURN DIRECTIONS
Sooooooo....as you can see, there's enough riding to keep everybody happy for a little while. All I ask for the small bit of work to organize this is
I will have a rider's meeting the night before the ride to go over the the route, and talk about stops along the route, and firm up the rider groups.

EDIT: Added section below on riding groups.
Okay...I've divided us into smaller groups for safety sake, faster gas stops, etc...so if you used to be a beotch and now you are a dick, or used to be a dick and now you are a focker...look below to find out what I think you are.
These groupings are based on past experience, peoples posts, and just plain guesses regarding what groups people might want to ride in.
This is NOT hard and fast...if anyone wants to switch, or even want to form their own group...please let me know ASAP so I can adjust the groups.
There is no designated group leader for any of these. You all are expected to learn the route, or choose your own route and choose a ride leader amongst yourselves.

Please know that if I move someone to a different group, I am just trying to make a judgement to make the day a safe and fun ride for all.
The general pace is faster in group A than group B and so on...but there may be faster riders in Group C than Group B, etc...I'm just trying to put like paced people together -AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE- so people feel less tempted to go a pace faster than they should.
(Note the dates above...different than originally advertised.)

Sooooooo....as you can see, there's enough riding to keep everybody happy for a little while. All I ask for the small bit of work to organize this is
- Everybody ride in such a way to keep the rubber side down
- Be respectful of the riders around you and give them plenty of space
- Be respectful of the people in the area that we come in contact with, whether at the motel or while passing during the ride
- Have fun during the ride and after the ride in the parking lot swapping stories of the awesome curves
- Buy me a good beer.
I will have a rider's meeting the night before the ride to go over the the route, and talk about stops along the route, and firm up the rider groups.
