Took possession of a newish 2008 with 7,617 miles last week.

Hoping to make this one last a little longer than the '05 by installing the bash plate before going off-pavement, remembering to tighten the drain plug after an oil change, and by chugging around more on the old K75 (260K) unless I have a time/distance mileage goal planned.

Well between my two FJRs, I have accumulated about 70K miles. If I could ride more and fly less for work, my 08 would easily be 100K (I've flown over 50K miles this year alone).

I have been working on the 50K on my 08, over 11K on her so far this year. I have a trip planned for Veterans Day Weekend that will roll another 2K on her. I should hit the 50K early next year so I can finally join the 50K and up club.

Glad to hear you got yourself a new one John! Can't wait to see the adventure to come along with it! Really bummed I missed you and Melissa out in L.A.

Just got back today from a 4 day 12 state 2400 mile run getting closer to that 50K mark. I am just shy of 45K and planing the next trip. This trip really challenged my riding skill set and the bikes more than any other trip over 34 years of riding and ready to head right back out. The FJR is truly an amazing machine!

If any of you are looking for that special signature avatar (?) to express your pride in sticking with one ride, and that ride providing for you all those miles. Like these:

Hasn't been a great year for riding with the new job and the move to Ohio but I did put her away today with 75,911 on the clock. I'm happy to say that Ohio is turning out to be better than I imagined in terms of roads (coming from from Salt Lake).

Happy Holidays everyone.

Chris Mitchell 2003 FJR original owner, mileage is at 178.000 and some change as of now. Engine never been worked on. Current plugs were put in at around 50k. Valves never needed adjustment, original clutch. Replaced rear shock several years ago after it froze one night and puked when I sat on the bike in the morning. Replaced the steering stem bearings a few months back, races got notchy and needed replacement. Steering got a little scary and I had the problem fixed.

Wow! 128k on a set of plugs? Never needing a valve re-shimmed at that mileage? Wow! When was your last valve check?

Keep on rolling Chris!

Well I was going to write a nice ride report about this, but I just never seem to be able to. Imagine me at a loss for words.

Anyhoo, a few months back, I rolled over 100K finally on my 2004.

Thanks to Iggy for the push. I needed that. Thanks Matt.

Congrats George! Glad to see you are still doing some riding and haven't fallen off the face of the earth.

Just broke 60k on my '05, purchased in late '06.

Would have more but I have added 15k to my C14 and 27k to my shadow in that same time period so technically I have passed the 100k mark! :)

Congrats Chris on 178,000K miles. I added a 150K 03 Club:

Bump the below:

EDIT: 05/15/2011 Added
150K-04%20club.jpg
for Eric V. and others.

EDIT: 12/10/2011 Added
150K%2003CLUB.jpg
for Chris Mitchell and others.

I know this is nothing new, but 100K on one bike is impressive. I added a little 100K 05 CLUB to my signature. The dark 0 is a globe. Like this:

Reading through this thread makes me wonder just what kind of miles is it that these high mile machines are racking up?

My guess, based on years of putting 30-40k miles a year on my cars, is that the folks that rack up the miles the fastest are the ones with (lengthy) commutes to work. A daily commute racks up a butt load of miles, but not so many smiles.

Probably the second best way to accumulate odometer clicks, and do it in a hurry, is those Iron Butt guys that will go out and go 1000 miles a day for several days in a row. A week long "vacation" could be ~10k miles.

And then there are CBA guys like me. I have no commute (zero) but that's a good thing! And actually can't even use my bike for work at all (employer's rules), so no business related miles at all. I also don't find much joy on the wide open slab just getting from A to B, so recreational riding days any higher than 450 miles are a real rarity. An average "play ride" day might be 250 miles and take all day.

And yet, my '05 is reading just above 60k miles (61,199 right now). Bought it in '06 w/ 10k miles on it, so ~50k miles are mine in the past 5 years. But they are all fun miles. How many have 50k fun miles on their bikes?

I guess a lot depends on your definition of "fun"...

An interesting perspective Fred. I think you would be surprised at the high number of back road, twisty two laners I've ridden during 1k days. LD riding does not preclude fun or fun roads, (by your standard of fun). Certainly true that there are slab miles involved, but I've spent all day on fun back roads during a 24 hour rally with only ~60 miles of slab too.

I do get a little chuckle from people that ride only the twisty roads and actually will choose to drive the car on an errand instead of riding the bike just because it involves a 100 mile run down the slab. Every ride I take is fun. Any time on the bike is fun. But then, I don't ride the same road back and forth either. I've perhaps done that twice in my life. I have other roads to ride farther along and am not going to spend my time re-experiencing the same road multiple times on the same ride.

edit: I used to commute in the car. I only rode to work a few times, and then usually because I was heading out on a trip right after work. Silly bit of trivia - I've been on the forum 6 months more than Fred, but have 7300 fewer posts and 100k more miles. Probably just a location thing. Oregon and Utah allow me year round riding, despite OR having some limitations. ;)
