Lifting the Front Tire

I don't recommend this.

Run it in first gear up to about 4 or 5 grand

chop the throttle and then, right away, nail the throttle

the harder you nail it, the higher the tire lifts

you wreck it, it's your own damned fault

Ok, try this. In the garage, put the bike on the center stand, sit on the bike, then scoot back to the back seat. Problem solved. :yahoo:
I was showing my sister the bike in the garage the other day. She got on the back while the bike was on the center stand, and the bike dropped onto the rear tire, which of course is in the air with the center stand. She and went "Oh shit!" at exactly the same time. First time I learned the FJR does that.

Have many folks with 06 models found the secret? My buddies 04 lifts with ease and my 06 seems less prone which is maybe a good thing <lol>. Maybe the gearing changes and lengthened swingarm have tamed the beast somewhat??

I've tried the Bounce method and after many attemps managed a meager couple of inches ... Nothing to write home about. Now for the innuendo inclined folks .. We're not talkin' porn movies OK <lol> .... though reading that last line again ... It does sound like it

It's well documented that they lengthened the swing arm in '06. That will retard the wheelie ability. That's why hill climber bikes use insanely long swing arms (to keep the nose down).

It's also why '06 bikes are retarded.

I did it on accident from a full stop at a light, just by popping the clutch. Front tire came up 'bout 2 inches. Gotta tell ya though, since it wasn't purposely done, that was a high-pucker-factor deal. This was 1 block away from where I work and a Seattle cop was first in line at the opposing traffic light. Dunno if he didnt see it or didn't care, but I got my ass into our garage ricky tick.

Good luck JB, but howsabout turning on your video cam, just in case you're fixing to provide us with another object lesson ;-)

This has always worked for me. From the gospel of Ahamay

And Saint Atila raised the Holy Hand Throttle up on high, saying,

'Oh, Lord, bless this thy FJR that with it thou mayest blow

thy other bikes wheelies away, in thy mercy.' And the Lord did grin, and

people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies,

and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats.

And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou place thy FJR in First Gear.

Then, shalt thou rev to five thousand rpms, no more, no less. Five thousand

shalt be the number thou shalt rev, and the number of the revolutions

shalt be five thousand. Four thousand shalt thou not rev, nor either rev thou two thousand,

excepting that thou then proceed to five thousand. Six thousand is right out. Once

the number of revolutions be five thousand, being the fifth thousandth number of revs, be reached,

then crackest thou thy Holy Hand Throttle of Antioch towards thou foe, who

being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.'

Amen.

So sayeth the python

I was at a red light, when light changed took it up to around 5000 rpm in first and shifted to second gave it lots of throttle, front end up about 2 feet. The lift was smooth and stable, let it come back down on its own. This was unintentional but felt very controlled. I ride 2006 fjr electric shift and love it.

My vote is for the 2nd gear lift. It's smoother and more predictable. 5k in 1st, shift fast and a good punch in 2nd will lift her right up. At 185 and average height, I tend to be too far forward to make it "easy".

My victim of choice is a 65 lb. daughter on the back, screaming to the top of her lungs into the VOX mic on the headset... DAAAAAAADDDDDDDYYYYYYYY!!!

It wheelies so easy with that extra weight.

Yous guys.... such squids!

Really really, I wanna' do it, too. Been too chicken. But lofted the tire ever so slightly on accident... twice.

If you want to loft the front wheel, you gotta crank it like you mean it. All three of the techniques mentioned in this thread should work with the FJR. The easiest to manage, I think, is the power wheelie starting from 5K in first. The one that works best with bikes that barely have the power to pull it off is the one Bounce brought up - chopping the throttle, then cranking the throttle.

I'll echo what Bounce said - if you bork your bike trying any of this, Bounce is not responsible.

Well, found a lonely straight stretch of blacktop and tried a few techniques mentioned here. I was getting bummed when I went back to the tried and true ....

5000 in first, sitting back, backed off the throttle to drop the front end and then nailed it hard......... :D Up she went!

Not a true wheelie, lasted only a couple seconds, but high enough I saw sky and couldn't see the pavement. :yahoo:

PussyKat dropped down sweet as pie when I instinctively closed the throttle. Big :D :D :D

I'm ready for Superbikes now :p :p
