New Member. Picked up the FJR April 2023

I’m too big for the bike, I’m too heavy.
Suspension doesn’t respond correctly and the stock seat is terrible (for me).
Bike has ~20,000miles.
Bike is awesome, handling, stopping, acceleration, you know what I mean.

I don't need to know how heavy, but I have seen a few generously proportioned 2-up couples on an FJR.
Is the bike an "ES" (electronic suspension? - you may have limited options. I don't know if anyone has tried a stiffer spring.
A custom aftermarket rear shock (Penske, Ohlins, etc.) shimmed and sprung for your weight (for an "A" model) can make a pretty good improvement.
Aftermarket front fork internals (i.e. Traxxion AK20) will help too.
Hard to tell for sure from your avatar photo, but it appears to be a 2014 "A" model...

I have managed for 450,000 km on stock seats (on two FJRs) but many folks can't live without their aftermarket seats. A custom-made Russell seems to be the gold standard. Others like Laam, Sargent and even Corbin for some have their fans. Others out there as well - do a search on the forum for lots of discussion.

Good advice: Custom Seat and rear aftermarket shock are the plan for this year!

lol i 'm also to heavy, and to tall, but still riding 200 km a day on a standard FJR 2013. only added highway pegs from Gary for when i have a cramp ( yes i am getting old also ). on long trips i stop every hour ( yes i am still smoking) only problem i had was at 220km/h my rear started to wobble, but the next maintenance the dealer did i do not know what ( they are magicians ) and now the bike is stable, even at high speed

Highway pegs are probably going to happen this season too. Will have to remove the crash bars, for Gary’s set up. I don’t really like the bars but I do think they would be appreciated if… well if they were needed…

Cannot wait for the new seat and the new season.
