In June 2012, the little town of Elliot Lake, about 150km from Sudbury suffered a horrendous disaster when the towns main mall, the Algo-Center, collapsed during shopping hours.

My friend, JT (JT384 here on the forum), a good Cape Breton'r if their ever was one, was on duty that day and was first on the scene along with the rest of the Elliot Lake Fire Dept.

John, Ken Barnes and Adam Vance, were recognized for bravery for their actions that day, searching the rubble for survivors and securing the area.

16 firefighters and six police officers were recognized for their acts of bravery by the Province today.

I'm thankful for guys like these that look out for us everyday, and proud to call JT a friend.

Now if we only could get him out to one of our organized rides!

Well done!

My wife was a fire commissioner for our volunteer fire department for several years, and we were able to hear first hand the stories of what they did and accomplished. My hat's off to all of you.
