Hosted a couple of guys over the weekend for some bayou swamp cruising. After a nice 325 mile day Saturday, talk turned to helmets. Turns out each of us has at least 3 helmets (one of the guys had 6!). We found it interesting that although we all griped about how expensive the damn things are, we continue to collect them. Also talked about jackets, gloves, etc, but it got ridiculous at how much we accumulate of that kinda thing. Time for a spring cleaning sale maybe.

Anyhow, I thought it might be interesting to see what other FJRers are wearing. I am a Shoei guy, so below are my 3 lids. RF1000, MultiTech (comms), and X-11.

I wear an HJC Symax II and I like it so much that I cleaned out my stock of old helmets a few months ago. I disposed of a Zeus flip face that I was wearing during a low speed crash, an old Simpson full face, and an even older Bell 3/4. I got a new HJC for my wife recently as well.

I just modified Richard's list, I LOVE Schuberth helmets!

I had a symax, but found it too "bulbous" on my head, and too much buffeting/noise. Never tried the Symax II. I'm guessing they improved the symax in the making of the II. Does it have good ventilation?

One white Nolan N-103 with J&M speaker/mic set and one bright yellow Shoei Multitech just like my hero Old Michael!

I love the internal sun visor on the Nolan.

Uh, Burk Old Buddy, you may just want to consider raising your sights quite a bit before B. C. Barb sees your statement. You are already beat up enough right now!

HJC in the past... random ones. CL-14 comes to mind.

Scorpion Exo-700 now. Love it. Fits my noggin good.

I am very interested in trying Schuberth or Nolan next time though. Got a couple years till replacement time though.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on it once you've had it for a while. I have a C2 but have read the C3 is much lighter and quieter.

I will for sure let you know.

The only reason i have not ordered one so far is that i want to try it on first.

Currently: Two Shark RSI's get used first. They are light, fit my LO head with zero issues and have no buffeting on my bikes.

Next up is a nice looking fancy N-102 Flip that I just don't use much. It feels like a bucket of concrete on my head after wearing the RSI.

I sold my AGV Stealth, never fit right but, it was nice and light. The head shape was very odd and it did not cut through the air on naked bikes. Lots of pull and moving around at speeds over 50 mph. Various HJC helmets that are for round heads and never performed all that well on my long oval head.. mostly off road styles, the only helmet I ever crash tested was an off road HJC, one of the pricey models too. It was being used on road with a dual sport and it did very well in the crash.

Fulmer Modus flip up, the helmet is heavy and cheap but, it fits very nice on my head. After many miles I retired it to a back up after seeing one in a crash. I would only use it if my others where all broken etc.. The hinge doesn't hold up well at all. I've only had around 8 helmets in the last 5 years..... I'm happy with the Two Shark RSI's and my current HJC off road helmet so, I won't be getting anymore till these are used up. From now on I look at head shape very close and the weight. Venting is not a huge issue for me since I ride with the shield cracked about 90% of the time. I like having a slim helmet without all the bulky weight. My only gripe about the RSI is the weak hold open on the shields. The RSI will not stay cracked open at a "brisk" speed unless you have a good size wind shield to get behind. It could really suck on a sport bike if you like to leave the shield in the vent position. They do fine at normal speeds though, I seldom get enough speed on the DR650 to shut the face shield, it only happens at interstate speeds near a truck etc..

The GMAX 44 modular....Silver to match my FJR.

Best comfortable fit for head and chin / low wind noise/ not too pricey / built in speaker holders / solid closing.
