Early May in Japan is called Golden Week due to the several holidays within a 10 day period. So Golden Week + Iron Butt = Goldenbutt!

The route was to southern Kyushu, which is the most southern of the main islands in Japan. In order to get to 2000km, we had to do a funny route that sort of loops back on itself. Total calculated route was 2173 on MapSource, 2102 on Japanese map sites, 2160 on my odo.

Toll roads (basically all highways) here are expensive. This one was about 270USD in tolls. Add that to 5USD/gallon...and this really adds up.

From Tokyo, headed toward Nagoya via the Tomei, then go back on the Chuo toward Suwa, split off on the Nagano Expressway, to the joshinetsu. Bang a left to head down the north coast of Japan on the Hokuriku. Change to the Meishin around Osaka, get on the Chugoku and take that into Kyushu. Once in Kyushu you take the Kyushu Expressway all the way down. Then some local roads to the campsite for the last 100km.

The guys on the R1 & FZ1 went a lot faster than me, but with my superior tank range, I managed to sneak into the end point 45 mins earlier or so? :clapping:

I had plenty of food to get me through, homemade sandwiches from the GF! yeeha.

Here's me trying to work out these new headphones since I couldn't find my er6i's. (I bought these things called "Shure". Damn expensive. Pretty nice tho).

Not a whole lot of pics of the trip there. It got pretty damn cold in the mountains. Bit of rain slowed things down a bit overnight as well.

Here's me trying to find the campsite at the end. Bit tough. Those things in the back are a bunch of koi (fish) flags/wind flags which go out for Boys day, or whatever the holiday was. Looks neat....

Dinner was lots of PORK! You grill this yourself (called yakiniku). The campsite owner had a pig farm. very tasty!

I'll put up some pics elsewhere of the rest of the ride.... (probably tomorrow, getting late).

Colin, congrats on completing the Goldenbutt and thanks for the write ups.

Damn I miss riding in Japan and lane splitting.
