I looked (briefly) at that possibility from here, and I would still come up short of the requisite 1k miles (from up here in NH) unless I added a loop somewhere along the line. Bagging 1000 miles in a day requires that you stick to the highway. You need to average 60 mph to finish in ~17 hrs. When you consider gas stops, pee breaks, eating occasionally, etc. To average 60 means you need to cover ground at 70-80 mph much of the time. So, you wouldn't be able to take the interesting secondary roadways that cota and I were talking about. But it is do-able on the interstates, if that is what you want to do.

No Problem, Always wanted to ride the Mohawk Trail and still haven't so I will now. Like so........ almost exactly 1000 miles for the trip.

Then Maybe I can ride home on a more interesting ad scenic route, after all I will need pics for the ride report.

If i wasn't planning a 2up run I would go with ya! I don't think the SO would go for the 1K Run. If you don't do it this time maybe we can plan something down the road. Hell at 80 the Feej is just gettin warmed up. I have a freind that rides a VTX and we are suppose try and do a 1k butt burner together. He did 400 miles last Friday while I was at work. he gets every other Friday off. Lucky stiff.

 
So I take it your SO got the time off that you were hoping. That's great. I may just blast this run out back and forth in one shot before the EOM. I have to work out some details. If I just run down to JC Tn and back I can get the 1K and the 1.5K runs in one shot according to the IBA rules. Guess its time to think about new tires and get ready. I'm pretty spontaneous in nature so I could simply go out for a ride one day and keep goin. My long haul shit is always in the side bags anyway.

The SO will definately be going to EOM. I am trying to get her on the Cats and Dak's ride also but haven't herd whether she will get the time off. Her boss is currently on vacation. So many rides so little time.

Looking forward to the event. Acquired FJR Sept '08, to late for EOM 08. Reservations are made, Th, F, Sa (good hotel rate, nice job JW and crew). My wife and I are new to this ridin' business so I'm not sure she's up for such a long ride, from Southern MD (sorry NE folks, I know this sounds wimpish). I came up with the idea of putting her on a plane to Charlotte (only $49 bucks!). She can "get a room" and I will ride down and meet her. Next day we can ride from Charlotte to JC TN up rt. 321. Anyone ride this route (321), suggestions? We can take two or three days to ride back together (or $117 round trip!) Anyone riding Thursdays from Charlotte area? Note to Jon T, plans are every changing.

Hell Man, your half way there allready what are ya thinken!

Depending on what kind of Pillon she is you may want to send the SO on the plane. My SO just falls asleep after about 9 hrs. of ridin. Doesn't wake up till the brakes go on and i have to slow down to 85 MPH when i cruise up on old smokey. Ya bought the bike to ride didn't ya?

Registration will be open very soon for EOM! We are working on a few things for this years EOM that we have never done before and it's taken a little additional time.

Hang in there and be ready for an event you don't want to miss!

I just may put this on my calendar. It's a bit over 600 miles for me by slab. Can't afford the lodging so definitely would be looking for a campground. Anyone else heading there from Arkansas or Missouri?

 
Myself, Noone and another friend will be rollin in from Dallas.

We will be leaving Dallas Monday morning.

We will be hitting a few of my old haunts around middle Tn. for 2-3 days and ease into JC Thursday.

GB, maybe it would change our luck if we switch up our riding order, that reminds me, I need to pick up some more Shield screws.

Can't wait, looking forward to seeing everybody.

Hehehehe replacing windshield screws on the side of the road, bald tires needing changing, moose hunting in the bar, eating crazy good fruit in the parking lot and hanging w/ a wonderful group of folks...it doesn't get much better than this. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I'm so looking forward to this...will arrive Th and check out Mon. lots of mayhem in between (though my ass will still be sore from a trip to Washington State for two weeks of riding that ends back in VA one week before EOM) Almost can't wait to see ya all again...

Responding to my own post. :eek:

I have to pull out of EOM this year due to family responsibilities. Sorry that I'll miss the riding and the festivities. I'll see you all next year at NAFO if not sooner.
