Anyone have a link that shows the colors the FJR came in for those years. American models of course. The stuff I've found on the internet is so inconsistent I don't know what to believe. Salesman tells me each year had only one color available, but internet seems to show about 3 colors for each year.

Thanks.

North American market has had only one color choice each year. European market has had choice of three different colors each model year.

For North America:

2003 - Liquid Silver

2004 - Cerulean Silver

2005 - Galaxy Blue

2006 - Cobalt Blue

2007 - Black Cherry

2008 - Raven Black

2009 - Raven Black

2010 - Liquid Silver

2011 - Liquid Silver

All this info is in the FJR Comparison Matrix - HERE. Also, the AE model was always a different color - Cerulean Silver for a couple years, and then a charcoal.

The Cobalt Blue was the FASTEST color they've made to-date. We were a little worried they were going to release a worthy challenger in 2011, but it was not to be.

Was gonna respond "Black,Black & Not Black" but that's now been covered.

I'm wondering if there is an error in the Matrix. I could be wrong, but I thought the '09 Black was a slightly different formulation than the Raven Black. Don't recall a name for it though... which leads me to believe that it's more likely that I am wrong.

I think the color is the same between the years but the '09 is all black and the '08 is black with silver trim pieces.

Of course the actual tint I use in the matrix isn't right...it's just an approximation from the color palette available in Excel. But I put what I believe is correct textual information out there at the time Yamaha announced the '09. Find documentation it's different and I'll certainly change it.

the matrix says there was some different colour options which is contrary to this:

2003 - Liquid Silver2004 - Cerulean Silver

2005 - Galaxy Blue

2006 - Cobalt Blue

2007 - Black Cherry

2008 - Raven Black

2009 - Raven Black

2010 - Liquid Silver

2011 - Liquid Silver
So, which is right? I am referring to '06 to '09.

The matrix saying there were colour choices or that

North American market has had only one color choice each year.
?

The AE was the only cerulean silver option in 06 and 07? Well in 08 and 09 there are a total of 3 colours listed for each year.

Where specifically? I've looked three times now and they look identical to me for the A model.

I'm not an AE expert, but I think there were several colors available for the AE in NA....both of which were variations on gray. I put a slash and didn't try and approximate colors....because I didn't want to add yet another line to the matrix for a minor difference. So, yes, technically 3 colors, but is there a point to picking nits? When are you going to pull the ripcord and buy one? The waters great....I'm buying a 2nd one myself this fall. ;)

Matrix is not completely right now that I look more closely. Only two colors for Gen II. Really only one color per model.

AE came in Cerulean Silver for 06/07. The charcoal metallic in 08/09.

So for the nitpickers, it is accurate to say that north american models ONLY HAD ONCE CHOICE OF COLOR PER MODEL.

Kapiche?

The only thing I am not sure of is what they called the 08/09 charcoal color. I believe it was Graphite, or Graphite Grey. Anybody?

I remember reading through the website those years and wrote down "liquid silver" and "metallic titanium" verbatim. That I know. Maybe I put a slash because the bikes have two colors on the bike. That kinda makes more sense. Dang AE's making my spreadsheet confusing. :dribble:

I edited my post before yours showed up. D'oh!

Are you SURE. It is totally possible they called it a two-color combination, but I don't remember that. Still thought 'Graphite' was in the name. But perhaps it was the titanium. I confuse my metals all the time.

I found a couple more references including this and this that refer to "Metallic Titanium/Liquid Silver". Unless we're all sharing a delusion....it's a two-tone thing and not separate colors available.

I think we all call/called it graphite as shorthand.

I'm resolved. One color for each model in North America. AE is a model and A is a model.....so two colors per year for the FJR line-up....for some years.

Nit picked to a nub.

Nit picked to a nub.
Not quite yet........... ;)

I found the following website which shows multiple colors for the 09 AE - most likely from the european market. Is it perhaps that the metallic titanium and liquid silver were the two different colors in the european market?

Clicky.

And I think 'Graphite' was the name for 'Metallic Titanium' in the european market?

More confusion to the pile. Here the call it Granite Grey: Clicky.

Ok, for 2008 (and presumably 2009) the AE colors in the 'rest of the world' market were Graphite, Silver Tech, and Midnight Black. Clicky for reference.

Which I think match up to our Titanium Metallic, Raven, and then either Cerulean Silver or Liquid Silver.

Another reference to the 2008 AE model being 'Granite Grey' - Clicky.

It's all so confusing! Unfortunately, Waybackmachine didn't help.

To confuse matters even more, there are some minor other color differences from year to year, even when the main color stayed the same. 2006AE and 2007AE for example shared the cerulean, but the 06 has dark chrome plated wheels, and the 07 has clear coated aluminum wheels...

I was under the impression the Cerulean grey was for the normal abs model. My bad. I misread the matrix.

As for when I'm going to take the leap? No rush as the off-season for me has started. There's a total of 3, possibly 4, abs models which are in my price range and after I let them idle for a while I am going to make every one an offer which is much closer to what a "fair" price would be. Right now they are all asking for more money than they should be. First one to see reason makes a sale.

Blue or bust, though. WTF is up with so many shades of grey? It's so depressing.

Holy crap. Who would have thought this would stir up so much. I wanna buy a 2008, but if its "grey" then I'm not that interested. No offense, but I'm not a big fan of grey. If its "black" then thats fine. You guys and your fancy dancy little names. Geez. Is it grey or black? LOL

I'm interested in the A model, not AE. That matrix file is pretty cool. But why is the 2009 so much more weight then 2008?
