Get a load of this bad boy Click

I'm not sure how much longer I can live without one of these....A fuel tank with another gallon or so would probably push me over the edge.

Just how many different posts do you need to sing the praises of your object du lust'?

Why don't you just bite the bullet, right the check and ride the bike?

Must...resist...don't need....six bikes..no room....agony!
Need? NEED? NEED? We aren't arguing no stinkin' need here. We're discussing what you want and what you think you deserve. You DESERVE the Adventure, so you should buy it. Then keep a record of the bikes you don't ride and sell them to reduce your garage number....if you want.

Buy the Adventure. You should have the KTM. Buy the Adventure. You should have the KTM

Well, in Evil's defense, the link is to a 950 Super Enduro R (not an Adventure). Not that there's anything wrong with wanting/needing an Adventure -- but, that 950 Super Enduro really is a bad boy, imho.....

I don't want to seem too blasphemous while still being so new here... but did you check out one of these?

I'm telling ya... if i had more dirt around here, I'd think about getting on of these instead of the FJR, and then I'd have to find some new forums. :(

Evil... dude.. I'm right there with you. So far as to say I might even sell the FJR for that ride (GASP). Don't take no shit from anyone here on the board. They have FJR-itis. Kind of like Arthur-itis that affects the Geritol group.. The KTM's can damn near out accelerate the FJR on roll-ons from 2nd gear and absolutely leave the FJR behind once the road gets rough. And, once on a true dirt track trail, what the KTM can do to the BMW isn't even decent... Yes, I like the KTM. I might even sell the Harley to obtain one. If you can afford it, have at it EH... BTW, if you ever get busted up, and the bike is just sitting, there, well, I'd be willing to make sure cob webs don't grow on the piston crown...

Ok, just read this post again. I'd keep the FJR and sell the Harley.... :D

Doesn't the Adventure have a 5.8 Gal tank? Then add a Skyway cell and hit the road to Prudhoe Bay!
Nope, 3.4 gallons on this model. It's a 400#, 100 HP, designed from the ground up dirt bike with the very best suspension WP makes. Not an Adventure, no hideous attempts at a quasi faring or windshield, ect. Not that I'd turn down an Adventure but this Super Enduro R rocks. It's new this year and I'm not sure how available it is (if at all yet). But I want one... :evilsmiley03:

See you on the trail.. Be sure to Roost TWN as you pass him on the Bavarian Twin. (hey that rhymed!)

That's fine, just don't mess up my 300 thread count Egyptian cotton lined sleeping bag doing so! :fuck: Besides, he who arrives first, buys first. :bleh:

But you said "Monster Dual Sport" and, IMO, that's the Adventure. You want to go far, or you want to go fast and hit a lot of gas stations along the way? I want to go far. Sorry for the hijack.

That wasn't a hijack, just a simple case of mistaken identity. I have my FJR for go far gas station skipping road trips. For me dual sport means something that can make it on the freeway long enough to get me to my favorite dirt riding areas and still have some gas left over. But this bad boy could actually do a Baja to Prudhoe Bay run with a little extra gas capacity. It's got no provisions for luggage like the Adventure which is fine, I've done the soft bags thing on dual sports before and I know how to travel light...Unlike my wife...did I say that out loud?

All you gots to do is buy an after market desert tank and you are good to go. No need to complain about tank size.
I'm sure some aftermarket will be available at some point but as of now there's pretty much no aftermarket anything. And KTM doesn't make a bigger tank. :(

Other than being really cool, I'm not groking the utility of this Enduro model.

For a true enduro bike to be taken into nasty places, it's got 100-lbs of extra weight and 40-extra-hp that are as useful as tits on a boar. Riding one of these $13K beasts at speed on a rocky, hilly, muddy trial looks a great way to drain one's wallet and spend quality time in an ER. Sorry, I'll take a KTM 450 for an enduro bike.

As a dual-sport adventure bike to ride forest service roads, fire roads, logging trails, etc. and the pavement to get to these roads, the Adventure model makes a lot more sense. And it's got the extra fuel to allow some exploration rather than sweating gas all the time.

100-hp, 475-lb dirt bikes. Nope, just don't get it. And if I did, I'd get the HP2.

I hear ya and I know exactly where you’re coming from. I have four MX bikes ranging from 125cc to 426cc and even with the heaviest weighing in at about 240 lbs I can only last about 4 hours before I’m pooped. I took my fully loaded KLR650, which weighed well over 400 lbs., into places a lot of people would have trouble with a 125, i.e., Rubicon for one. It wasn’t easy, in fact it was exhausting and painful but even on that anemic POS it was fun. I can only imagine how much fun a full on dirt bike that can smoke sport bikes must be. And that’s my problem. I can’t stop imagining it.

FWIW, the SE weighs in at 407 lbs..
