Rear axle dropped 3 ft onto concrete floor...

Many thanks to all. Good news is I've never dropped the bike (an '04)! FWIW, new Pilot Road 4's are nice although I was very happy with my Avon Storms as well. Easy to please, I guess.

Rear axle dropped 3 ft onto concrete floor...

FJR was on lift, with axle out for tire change. Heard/saw axle hit the floor but mechanic said nothing. Note that I did not see the angle at which it hit the floor, but it was lying on the lift so I assume it was close to horizontal impact. Any reason to be concerned about invisible damage such...

    Albany NY private mechanic wanted

Thanks for the prompt replies. Turns out that about 40% of total oil dripped over the 4 winter months. Topped it off, warmed it up and shut it down. Still a very occasional drip so he'll take it for a ride and see what happens. Can't seem to pinpoint source but I suggested he confirm that the...

    Albany NY private mechanic wanted

Can anyone recommend a reputable mechanic in/near Albany? Found this mint 450 Rebel for a new rider. Ran perfectly last summer/fall. Middle of winter started leaking oil in his unheated garage. Seems to have leaked out completely, yet no leaks prior to that time. Dealers won't work on it due to...

'87 Rebel 450 for new rider?

My neighbor is selling '87 Rebel 450 (mint condition) with only 5k miles. Deliberating between '06 250 Virago and this 20 yr old Rebel for a short friend. Rebel was tuned w/new tires etc 2 yrs ago but sitting since then. Battery's dead and not sure it's running. Money aside, don't know much abt...

    Fork seal dimensions

Thanks, MadMike. My bike sees no hard use as I ride solo, fair weather, longer trips. Looks like it'll be my nickel but I'll ask the dlr just in case...

    Fork seal dimensions

Don't know dims but just discovered one of my 04 seals leaking at 17k. Is this "normal wear and tear" or would it be covered under the YES warranty? Thanks, George

    Engine Idle Increased 400 rpm

Many thanks for the thoughts. Bike is stock, mechanically. TPS recall was done this summer. Very busy of late but will check everything as suggested, and report back. George

    Engine Idle Increased 400 rpm

My 04 has always idled abt 1,100 rpm. With 45 degree weather, in stop/go traffic, idle has recently risen to 1500 rpm. After highway riding, w/two bars, idle is back to 1,100. As engine warms to 3 bars and subsequently 4 bars, in stop/go traffic, idle gradually returns to 1,500. Otherwise, seems...

Milwaukee Area: New Resident, Blind Since Birth

Lives about 4 miles from downtown Milwaukee, according to him. In my experience, it takes a lot to scare him but I know he'd welcome the opportunity. Thanks for the consideration. George

Milwaukee Area: New Resident, Blind Since Birth

Blind RiderIn the only response thus far, Ionbeam offered his personal experience with a blind rider and a link to his thread. Good read if you have any interest. Perhaps I scared people off with the comment about being very talkative. He's not that bad... and would appreciate any ride - no...
