    Stock Saddlebag Lock Questions

All good info and advice. My solution was to use Gorrila tape to cove the screw heads and secured on the flat surface of the tang. I make sure I got good surface contact on the tang and I see no way the srews could come out with this very sticky tape over their top. I check the tape before each...

    Michelin p4 wear issue

I've been satisfied with PR 2's but I have a difficult time evaluating how far gone the tire is. The sipes on the rear tire don't cross the center which makes it difficult to determine how much meat remains. No doubt I've replaced them prematurely when facing a long trip. Any suggestions on...

    Headlight Bulb Change Hack

I'm surprised no one has mentioned there is a hole in the reflector that allows you to view from the front the locking clip. It really helps getting everything lined up. Bill

OEM saddlebag locking tabs - one is longer than the other...?

Personally I wouldn't try to reset the tooth/teeth. Might make it worse. Mount both bags. When locked in are the equally tight with almost no movement when you push and pull on them? If so you're probably ok. But if one bags is looser than the other, then you have a problem. The bag could come...

Why my side case fell off

Damn I hit the "Unlike" button for your post. I meant to hit "Like." I used Gorilla tape. A screw can't turn out when covered with a strong tape. Bill

4 Lessons - Costly, But Priceless

Greg, I accidentally clicked unlike to your post. I meant to press like. I would have done the same thing. Ain't nothing like being 2000 miles from home on a deserted road and worrying about such things. Personally I think the cost of repair was not significant.

    Leaning out/in

DL1000, BMW 1200 R, BMW R1200RS, Yami Tennare. I can and usually stay ahead of my friends on my 1100 Guzzi. Not so on the FJR. Not complaining, the ergo's don't work for me when hammering the twisties. No doubt I could change things like handle bars, suspension etc to improve things. But like I...

    Leaning out/in

Glad to see this thread is alive. Still lot's of interesting posts. As the OP my conclusion is my cornering issues are all about geometry on the FJR. Why? Because I don't have the same issues on my other bikes. So for me I accept I'll not be able to be as aggressive in the twisties on the FJR...

    Headlight Bulb Change Hack

Here's my issue. No bulbs burning in low beam. Both bulbs working in high beam. So is it the left or right bulb that has the problem? I have done bulb replacements but I forget. Here's the order of steps I think are needed, Hopefully someone will confirm or clarify: 1. Pull off rubber cover...

    calsci windsheilds

I bought the mid sized Calisci for my 09. I love it. The OEM for me was not good. Even in summer I keep the larger Calisci on the bike. Good price too. Bill

A little sad to see the '08 go

I'm happy to say I have a 09 FJR. But I had to sell my 99 1200 Bandit to get it. I miss that Bike like no other. Bill

    HD vs FJR

The Sportster is made for rides around town, bar to bar rides, and poker runs. Not bad at its inception but so outdated today for any lengthy rides or performance rides. In short its a dinosaur that has very limited capabilities compared to modern bikes. But hey it has some charm that some...
