what givi top case to get

Howdy All, I'm still on the fence between '47 and '55. I've not seen a '55 on the FJR yet and am undecided. More significantly though, I am curious about the mount choices you have made. A big reason why I abandoned the OEM top box was it's poor mounting situation. I broke the mount plate...

What rear suspension are you running on your Gen II

The comparison may not be ideal... My ST1100 I rode stock suspension until about 60K. Early on, I'd ride with two clicks preload, bumping up 2, or 3, when fully loaded and/or with passenger. By 55K, I found I was on full pre-load for just me, all the time. After changing, Works Performance in...

    Best Price on Touring Trunk?

Hi Jason, I strongly recommend using almost anything 'other' than the OEM trunk. In less than 15K, my OEM mount had broken, was fixed, broke again. Most of the time, it was mostly empty, used to hold my riding gear once I arrived at my destination. Looking at other factory trunks online...

Anybody Mount a Givi TRK52N TREKKER On Their FJR?

Hi kamal, Had seen that link. Thanks, but don't think that's for me:). Once the cold rain clears out, I'm thinking a trip (:45 ride) to my nearest Givi dealer's in store. Curious to see the beast in-person and get their thoughts. Will admit, yesterday, I went to look at my 'basically new'...

Anybody Mount a Givi TRK52N TREKKER On Their FJR?

Greetings, My '10, with OEM top trunk and mounting plate is succumbing to the all-too-common FJR stress cracks drama. Wish I had been aware of the stress cracks before getting the OEM trunk. While researching all manner of other issues in the forum, going down miles' deep rat holes, who would...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Rode it. 39F, figured I'd waited long enough:) Only 26 miles, but better than just sitting there. Besides, the bike hadn't come off centerstand since I mounted the new tires. It was bothering me. Now, I have these new tires with 1.5" chicken strips either side<g>.

    Michelin Pilot Road 3

Hi, My PR3s were indeed up $20 this year. Right now, for $20, I'm not interested in 'experimenting' with another tire. I'm not unknown to change brands, just don't see the value doing so right now. Though, in the future, I could see another Metz Z'something. Whenever I've been dissatisfied...

    Michelin Pilot Road 3

Greetings, My experience with cupping on a lot of tires is that higher tire pressures can help mitigate the problem. With my PR3, I kept the front at 40psi consistently and, combined with smaller tread blocks, found it developed a mild hum after ~2K miles, but never got any worse. What I...

    commuting too much

to the original start of the thread... When your idea of wheel alignment, is a matched set of bungie cords...you probably spend too much time on the slab.

    Periodic winter start ups ?

Entertaining thread. Talking with my MG's mechanic, he said the best thing to do was treat the fuel, park it in the garage, and simply leave it. Granted, most of the machinery he's discussing is 30+ years old:). Me, as long as fuel system's been treated, and battery's tended to, I know there's...

    The FJR's Stock Suspension SUCKS!

There is one lesson learned I felt worth sharing as regards technique. A lot of riders let their machines roll into their turns, taking long to effect the turn, and ultimately requiring more lean angle. In the first California Superbike School class, I took my ST1100. One of the lessons...

    The FJR's Stock Suspension SUCKS!

Or, that someone might spend $10-15K on a bike, but not be willing to spend the final $2K to perfect it?
