    FJR's in the Green Mountains

Have to chime in and reconfirm the weekend was one of the best of a very wet summer in VT. The rt17 notch ride is in the "backyard" for me and part of my regular after work ride, I usually go west to east then head north on 100/100B to Middlesex. 100B has some nice long curves that are a lot of...

    Missouri cop gone wild

I later showed this to my 16 year old son for two reasons, one as a lesson to just shut your mouth other than yes sir or no sir when dealing with a cop and second, that being a cop does not prevent a person from being a jerk anymore than any other job does. (reason to follow rule one)

    Missouri cop gone wild

Concise and to the point! For some reason I could hear someone saying that in my head and it made me laugh! As they say on O & A "Line of the Day"

    Cool Vest

Just to pile on I would also vouch for the cool vest and mesh jacket combo. I found that I could handle the heat up to about 95 then I would pull out the vest and when you get going again it is like a new day! I also found that by the time you have re hydrated at a gas stop the vest will have...

    On The Road Security . . . .

I bought a Talon alarm for my FJR, for traveling/stopping with bags I added wiring from the alarm to the main zippers on my tank bag, seat bag and tail bag. I used coiled cord so I could extend the wiring quickly to the tank bag ( and thru my helmet ) I also used a light cable and lock for the...

    Concerned About Avon Storms

I just had some Metzlers put on and on the short ride tonight they were great. I had a set of storms and put 8500 miles on them in three months. They either cause a wobble or bring out the slight wobble that I am beginning to think the FJR inherently has and makes it much more noticeable. After...

    My Avon Storms were terrible!

I have previously posted that I had a set of Avon Storms that had a bad front tire that wobbled. The dealer replaced that tire and other than some mild head-shake when decelerating I had no further problems with the tires when new. I rode to the coast and back and have about 8,500 on the set...

    North Conway was packed ....

I cannot stand all the V-twin noise either. I believe that there is some "safety" rational about "being heard" making for a safer ride but I don't buy that. It is just irritating. One of the worst things is it is spreading to cars, now you got little imports making more noise than headway!

2008 FJR1300 - Dear Yamaha, this is what we want.

The turn signal should be self canceling, as pointed out I also am hitting the button all the time to insure it is not still blinking. Also add speed read out to dig display side so you can toggle it on if you like. I used a GPS for a trip and used it for speed readout instead of the fine print...

    Vermont to Calfifornia Trip

Well Stan I am just a working guy with a good wife, a good boss and enough vacation time that I could take off the time with out too much crying lol. I had wanted to take this kind of a trip from back in my days in the navy, where we would all bs of what we were going to do when we got off the...

    Vermont to Calfifornia Trip

I do remember being happy to clear the going home traffic in Grand Junction and getting some air moving over me again! I liked almost all of my western days riding, the trip up from Albuquerque on 550 was not too much fun but that was my first taste of the hotter weather. My favorite day was...

    A crash at The Dragon

Great point, I was on the islands in Lake Champlain sunday night night and saw a semi passing a Mini Van that I guess had been poking along. Anyway the Mini Van does not slow down at all and makes the semi make the pass on its own which seems to me to take forever. I thought I heard the Semi...

    Vermont to Calfifornia Trip

Vermont to California trip. 7670 Miles 13 riding days with a 3 day layover in San Francisco. Rode west on interstates until Cortez Co where I picked up 491 to 191 to 95 and rode north toward Hanksville Utah where I crossed over to 12. Unbelievable scenery and great riding as most of the time I...

I was the blue 06 with Vermont tags. Got in last night from trip to Calif and back. Excellent time out...

    Avon Storm AV55 Front

My experience is similar to others here; I ordered a set of Avons and had them mounted. I noticed that there was consistent wobble accelerating, coasting and braking in the 35 to 50 mph range. At 65 70+ range no wobble but I feel that the frequency had just gotten too high to feel any more. To...
