WCR 2011 - The Official Thread

My wife and I just got back from the Horizon's Unlimited 2011 meeting in Nakusp. We trailered my FJR and her 600 Bandit mostly so that we could bring along BEN, the wonder dog. As usual, Ben stole the show and was the winner of "Most Popular Motorcycle Rally attendee". Sharon is scheduled for...

    info on 2004

Well, according to my local Canadian BMW dealer's Blue Book, at a fair market RETAIL resale value of $ 8500 Canucklehead Bucks, my near mint 2004 FJR is worth a bit more than your wife's engagement ring ... and the much smaller depreciation on the FJR makes it a much better investment than...

    info on 2004

Look up 2004 FJR/Clean/Low Mileage in the BLUE BOOK, look up the WHOLESALE price, then deduct a few hundred ... [;{) BUT then, add in about $ 400 for importing the FJR into Canada, add in the cost of an oil change and filter, PLUS the cost of a set of Michelin Pilot Road 2s, plus the 2...

How is the FJR around town?

At wellll over 600 lbs, The FJR is no anorexic, nimble little ballerina, but for me, the FJR, WITH A LOWCENTER OF GRAVITY AND ALMOST "NEUTRAL" HANDLING, balances beautifully at low speeds, and I find that it does dance pretty well around the city. However, I just got back from a 1500 mile...

    info on 2004

GAMBLING ON A USED FJR? While on vacation in California, on my way to Reno Nevada for a weekend, I just bought a 2004 FJR with 17K miles on it. AND, I bought that FJR without even a test ride. Reno was the wife's idea as a weekend getaway ... mostly because we had never been there before...

The good news is that I am alive ....

SOME PEOPLE NEVER LEARN .... a follow up from last years WCR crash survivor.   Wellllll, mostly things turned out OK.   a MONTH of physio and HI POWER pain killers, and my beat up ol' body was as good as it ever will get. I still can't play the piano, but then I couldn't plat it before...

The good news is that I am alive ....

FOLLOW UP TO FALL DOWN on the Malahat Saturday evening, on my way home from WCR: The crash is over, but the real fun has just begun!!! Insurance ... why do we pay thos ehigh insurance rates, when the insurance companies seem to almost always try to screw us out of a fair settlement? 1.]...

    03 FJR rough idle

I had the rough idle issue as well. TPS was replaced under recall, still no fix. Last Spring I bought a brand new GEL battery, and the problem seemed to disappear for a few weeks. Then it came back. @!#$^&&**(*(()()) A search here on the FJR forum found this thread...

The good news is that I am alive ....

I just got off the phone with the Shawnigan Lake RCMP constable who attended. The RCMP does not anticipate any charges against the drivers or riders involved in the accident .... the RCMP had to slow down on the way to the crash site because they hit the sh!t too!!! They also walked around...

The good news is that I am alive ....

WELLllllll, the good news is that I am still alive, hurtin, but alive. the bad news is that there was an accident on the Malahat last night, involving three or four cars, a truck, and a motorcycle. I was the VERY LUCKY guy on the motorcycle. the FJR was not so lucky. Southbound on on the...

How nimble is your FJR? what about vs a K1200?

My buddy has a K1200S, I've got an FJR. He is the one who recommended the FJR to me, because, when we rode together, he had to slow down too much to keep me any where close by .... AND I was riding a BMW GS 1150 at the time. When we ride together, I can't keep up with him on the twisties...

    Offroading an FJR? ...or...InFeDeLiTy...*gasp*!

Adventure touring? HMMmmmmmm? IMHO, it is more about the abilities of the rider, thanit is abouit his choice in "Dual Sport" equipment. On our Baja trip, from Vancouver Island to Cabo San Lucas and back, we had a dozen bikes and riders. [1]- KLR [ that would be me ] with about $3000 worth of...

    Offroading an FJR? ...or...InFeDeLiTy...*gasp*!

New 2003 FJR owner ... former "Dirty Boy" dual sport rider / long distance dual sport tourer. I love my FJR, but I do miss those dirt and gravel roads ... My new to me 2003 FJR is definitely the best LONG DISTANCE SPORTY TOURING bike I’ve ever owned, and this opinion is based on over 45 years...
