I've had my first ride on my new-to-me 2008 bike and I find the stock screen doesn't work too well at motorway speeds (I'm 6'-1") and I'm considering trying one of the clip on screen extensions.
Does anyone have any conclusive findings on what works for these bikes? I've seen a few threads but fewer conclusions.

Cheers

They help for some screens and for some people. I bought one and it improved things a bit but I ended out with a better screen (Cee Bailey which is no longer available). You can get those extensions quite cheap on eBay or AliExpress so it may not be expensive to give it a try.

These cheap amazon add on lips work very well once adjusted to your situation.

I have the MRA one on my Rifle screen. I find that it works really well to calm the air around my helmet. I have one on my FJR and another on my KTM, so I guess I'm a believer.

My only criticism is that the MRA screen comes with a bag of tiny plastic parts that go together differently depending on how it's going to be used and the instructions are pretty poor, leading to some head scratching the first time.

My '05 has an MRA on a tall V-stream shield and it works great... but as stated above, find what works for you even with a stock shield. I'm EXTRA tall so I wanted and needed that extra height (I still look just over the top of the MRA). I've also got a tall shield on my Super Tenere but with a cheapo MRA-type mini spoiler that works well...

I have one and while it works great for me, it makes me nervous on those occasional brief speed runs. I’ve not heard of any issues, but I’ve kept it below triple digits since installation.

Just sharing my experience. I no longer have my 2008, just the GS now. But mine came with the stock screen with one of the lips on it that's specifically shaped for the FJR, I did not like it at all. It didn't really seem to make an overall difference and on top of that it was very difficult to clean where the windshield overlapped. I ended up actually just removing it and running the stock windshield and later on got a v-stream and that worked great.

Mine was of this design
