    AE????????

Yeah, that's just ridiculous. The actual time is WAY more than that. Like 3.4 seconds or something. Crappy, anemic power...bike only goes 100MPH in 3rd gear.

    AE????????

Heh. That sounds very familiar. The first couple of times I ran into that, I felt like my AE was trying to kill me. It's just one of those little technical features you have to learn.

    AE????????

Not launch from a stand-still? It's pretty easy on the AE. 1) Twist right wrist sharply. 2) Hold on as front wheel comes off the ground. I didn't think I'd like the AE either, but I got offered an '07 for 11k, and I couldn't say no. It's not that hard to get used to, it's just different...

    Cop gone wild

Hmm. He doesn't sound like "one of our best and brightest". Far from it.

    Rode my friend's C14

I'm shocked--shocked!--that someone would ride a 145+ HP motorcycle and not obey the posted speed limits at all times. I find this lack of respect for our democratically enacted laws quite disturbing, I assure you. You kids today, with your iPods, and your cell phones, and your fast...

Sadly, however, those hopes are so often dashed.

Well, every forum has it's own personality. Maybe your personality just doesn't mesh well with the personality of this particular forum. I know mine doesn't so I don't participate much here myself. I spend most of my time at Skipper's place. Several of the members her are LEOs, and I don't...

    Squidley in Bonsall

*sigh* Yeah. That's what I am saying. Because the only two possible choices are shorts and tennis shoes, or a full leather suit.

    Squidley in Bonsall

4:15 PM, August 5th, 2008. Bonsall, California. South on Camino Del Rey. I saw your silver, Gen I FJR. You were riding with the hard bags off, just like me. Unlike me, you were wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes. I know you saw me in my hi-vis yellow. And, I saw you, squid boy.

    Throttle Tamer Installation

    1. Pick up some WD40 and a can of compressed air at Office Depot. 2. Remove the throttle housing. 3. Remove the bar end. 4. Remove the throttle cables from the stock tube. 4. Pull the grip and tube off the handlebar. 4a. Careful, the grip is hardwired to the bike due to the heating...

    Escondido Sightings

Not me. It must have been the same silver one I saw yesterday going to Lake Wohlford. Here's how you'll know it's me: I'll be wearing this... You should be able to see me... As far as the Group ride goes, Except for about a 25-minute tripe past Lake Wohlford yesterday, I've been locked in...

    Escondido Sightings

I went out for a little ride, today, and I saw two of you. I was wearing my godawful-bright yellow hi-vis jacket, so I know you saw me. And you waved at me, so that pretty much clinches it. 1. Blue Gen I FJR at the intersection of Washington and Midway. 2. Silver Gen II ('07 AE?) on E...

    Harley Ride report

Hmm. The dry weight of an FJR is 584 pounds. The dry weight of an XL is 563 pounds. Are you sure about that weight difference? 'Cause I traded in a XL1200C for an FJR, and I didn't notice a weight difference. And I felt the FJR was WAY more willing to lean. And everything else. I don't...

    2009 V-Max Vs. Suzuki B-King

Uh...it's already been released. The press has seen it and test-driven it. It's even the current V-Max on the Star motorcycles web site. It's not speculation when the actual product is on the street.

    2009 V-Max Vs. Suzuki B-King

I think the V-Max has a good engine, but cruiser-style (i.e. kind of lousy) handling. The B-king is essentially a naked (yet, oddly, heavier) 'Busa cousin, NOT a stripped down 'Busa. The only thing Suzuki has changed on the engine is, I believe, the intake and the exhaust routing. It's the...

    In the Shop

I was riding into work this morning, and the bike just died, with no warning. No engine. No Electrical. I had to get a tow into the dealership, where I learned it was a bad starter switch. The one component that every motor vehicle has had for nearly a century with almost perfect...

    "San Diego ride"

My chick will not, under any circumstances, ride in either cold or rain. She's already iffy on riding pillion even in perfect conditions. It's looking like I'm out, at this point, barring a miraculous change in the weather.

    "San Diego ride"

No. It shouldn't. It should be called "Inaccuweather". Brevity is the soul of wit, my friend. No. We won't. My dad is coming in from Dallas on Saturday afternoon. It's Saturday or nothing for me.

    "San Diego ride"

Well, the weather isn't looking great for Saturday. Accuweather says the thunderstorm will still be in the area.

With great regret I am hanging up my boots

It's a hard decision to make, but if your head isn't in the right place for you to ride, then you should stop, at least for a while. Mental attitude is a good portion of riding safely and enjoyably. If you don't enjoy it any more, what's the point?
