    "New" 2009 AE Questions

I'm considering a "new" 2009 AE at Brother's Powersports in Bremerton, WA. (I sold my 2008 and have been kicking myself ever since.) While it makes simple sense to purchase an A or an ES and be done with it, I thought I'd ask anyway. First, the dealer is selling this 2009 as new, with 1500...

Seal Mate and Fork Seal Fix

My 2008 has developed a fork seal leak on the right side. Yamaha dealers in Tacoma and Bremerton both gave me quotes of $400 - $500 to do both. Have any of you used Seal Mate? Supposedly, a $5.00 plastic tool can do the fix. I'm skeptical that the fix could be so simple; it's sounds too good...

I'm Thinking of Selling My FJR

I'm having to think about selling my 2008 FJR. There are so many scams out there waiting to rip you off when you sell something. Any pointers so it doesn't happen to me if I go ahead and sell? I feel ill. I'm going to go lay down now.

    Washington State Boundary Ride Report

Well, as requested, here's my report on my Washington State Boundary Ride. In the end, 1,677.9 total miles at 51.5 mpg. This wasn't an Iron Butt; rather, it was to put together ideas and curriculum for my Washington State History Classes. My 2008 FJR, Belleza Negra, performed magnificantly...

    Tacoma Motorsports

If you're around the South Sound, I'm highly recommending Tacoma Motorsports. I'd purchased my '08 at Bremerton Powersports and had been relatively happy. Relatively. When I purchased the bike I'd heard later about the ignition recall and was assured that it'd been taken care of. Hmmm, but I...

    My FJR Made the Paper!

The Kitsap Sun did a write-up on my upcoming Boundary Ride of Washington State planned for August 7th through the 14th yesterday. They put the story on the bottom fold. There Belleza Negra was, front and certer! Well, I was there too, but that's beside the point. The reporter even mentions...

    myscenicdrives.com

In my prep for the August boundary ride I came across myscenicdrives.com. I clicked on Washington state and it was pretty interesting.

    August Boundary Ride Coming Together

I've been putting together my planned August boundary ride of Washington. On August 7th I'll take off from Gig Harbor and head up to see the folks at Brothers Powersports in Bremerton. Then it'll be off to eventually end the first day in Sequi. I found a nice cabin there for $26.00. Before...

Saving $$$: Gig Harbor, WA to Tulsa, OK This Summer

I'm switching gears for this summer. Instead of doing a boundary ride of Washington state, I've decided to ride to Tulsa, Oklahoma, then central Texas. My niece has asked me to give her away at her wedding this July. I thought, hey, I've got the time--I want to ride the FJR and not fly...

Round Trip: Gig Harbor to Clarkston -- 51 mpg!

The FJR was fabulous! 770 miles round trip at 51 miles per gallon :yahoo: I've posted pics and comments at https://picasaweb.google.com/kyledye1/Summe...ripToClarkston#.

When Planning a Trip, What Resources Do You Use?

I've done some rides to places in Washington state and Oregon. Now, it's time to start thinking about planning to see my kine in Oklahoma and Texas. What programs do you use to map out your trip and make hotel or camping plans? I've never thought of camping; I've always done the Motel 6 or...

Tall Yamaha Shield and Topcase Added

Here's a picture of my '08 with the just added Yamaha tall shield and topcase. Heated grips wil come later but I'm having second thoughts about the need for bar risers. She's a beauty! Oh, a special thanks to Pawtracks for showing me/us how to post pics here on the forum. :yahoo:

    Rickster's Bin-O-Facts for '06-'08 + New Windshield = Easy Button!

It took me 20 minutes max. That was being on the tail-end of the flu (No, it wasn't Swine or nothin', just your common variety.) and goin' reeeeal slow because I wanted to be exxxxtra careful with tabs and nylon screws. I'm not always the sharpest knife in the drawer but at the dealer's $80.00...

    Well, THAT was stupid!

I had to do some straightening up in the garage this morning, so I move the FJR out next to the Escape and all is well, right? Wrong. After hitting the kill switch I had a complete brain cramp and forgot to turn the key to the "OFF" position. Hours later I walk out and see the key--"Oh...

    Directions for Replacing OEM Windshield

Is there a place that has the step-by-step directions for removing the oem windshield? (Yes, I've looked without success.) I'm going to try the 4" taller shield from Yamaha and don't want to pay the $80.00 the dealer wants to charge to do the job.

At Last: Pictures of My Black Beauty

I've posted pics of my just arrived '08 FJR Black Beauty. https://rides.webshots.com/photo/2911049730060783399orBshi I'll figure out how to load pics here shortly. BTW, is there a Forum list of nicknames folks have given their FJR? Final thought: For eleven years they paid me to talk while I...

This Is Why I Love A Forum Like This

I just ran into the "Saddlebag Safety Pin Fix" for flying saddle bags that aren't designed to fly. :dribble: That's a "DO IMMEDIATELY" kinda thing. This is gonna be great!!! Thanks everyone!

I Know I Announced This on the "New Members" Page, But...

I don't think it gets better than this: Gorgeous weather for the weekend and a new, black, beautiful, sexy FJR in the garage. :yahoo: As the famous "Far Side" cartoon says: "What to do, what to do, what to do." Okay, it's not that perfect--I have a deck to finish--but I'll get some seat...
