    Fuel Stop Follies

My best little story of junk left laying on the bike is this: A group of us went to visit a riding friend with a terminal disease. It was pretty emotional. As we put on our riding gear to head out, I set my phone on my buddies rear luggage rack. We head out and ride a bit over a hundred miles...

    Garauld's Excellent workmanship

I just had some paint work done by Gary and could not be more pleased. I had a bad day a couple of months ago when another rider got off and knocked my bike over on the right side, and then I tipped it on the left in some deep gravel.....all within hours. I sent my dinged up bag lids and the...

Are more expensive Motorcycle Helmets really any safer?

Klim is coming out with an extremely light helmet very soon. Maybe out already, I didn't look at their website. I think it's carbon fiber and includes a photo sensitive shield that darkens in the sun. This thing is the lightest helmet I have ever picked up. It might make me give up my Shoei Neotec!

    Nowthen Tech Day 4/23

Thanks for hosting today Mike.....first time I have been able to make it out. Great food and people! Wondering what the outcome was on Bill's valve check and wish I had the time to stay till it was done. IIRC he had about 44K and first time checking. Any need adjusting? Brian

Barber Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, AL!

I agree with the flying dinosaur. Barber is an over the top museum for motorcycles and the vintage racing weekend is the ice cream on side. Get there early, stay late, bring a good camera. The sound of all the older machines giving it hell around the track is music. Go there.

Caution - whining ahead (Merged dupe threads)

I feel ya NoRain, I came from a DL1K with the ginormous Happy Trails on it. One of those held more than both FJR cases, but they were also huge, cubical wind blockers. Pretty sure no one makes anything that would mount to the stock FJR bag mounts, but you might be able to adapt some Givi...

    Would you rent your FJR?

I wouldn't necessarily rent in the usual sense, but I would loan it to someone I trust. A friend from Belgium came over with his wife this summer and took my FJR for a 4000 mile trip out west. He has also loaned his BMW to me to ride in Europe. So that kind of thing is cool with me. Strangers...

Gen 1 Canyon Cages in development....

Just a word of caution for you beta buyers. They just recently produced some for the Gen 1 Concours models and it seems to have significant fit issues, along with poor communication from the MCE. https://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=15545.0 This does not mean there will be any problems on...

Gen 1 Canyon Cages in development....

Looks like a good start. Be more curious to see what touches at laydown. Honestly, the front appears too tucked in to be of much help, and I would be concerned about the fulcrum affect wnen the bike goes over on it. Will it just cause more upper damage?

Need help with Self-Guided 4 day bike tour in Tuscany

4 hours north of Florence in the incredible riding area of the Dolomites is a motorcycle and bicycle oriented hotel that I spent a week at in 2012. Great place and very friendly staff and owner that rides. It is called Hotel Diana near Nova Levante...

    Motorcycle Observations in Europe

The international drivers permit is only $15. The only reason to have it is it provides some translation to other languages for non English speaking/reading cops. I have heard it recommended that if stopped you only give them the international permit unless forced to produce your real license...
