I had the same problem with leaf-loving car drivers last Monday on the Blue Ridge. Hopefully this weeks trip will see less traffic all over since we'll be up in the mountains during the middle of the week.

Blue ridge from I-26 all the way to US-74 was completely full of gawking leaf lovers cruising at 20mph. When you have a rail of six cars and bikes waiting on you to get off the road, you're probably going too slow. I thought that maybe being a Monday, holiday or not, it would be okay. Nope...

Agreed. That was a seriously hard article to pull the facts from the fluff. All in all, it sounds like a 30 year old Bandit 1200 motor with a hydrolic valve train and knock sensors. So im failing to see how they are five steps ahead of their competition with this one.

And you've still payed twice as much and are carrying and extra 300lbs at all times with no upgrades to the stoppers on your "faster" bike. Plus the R6 is still EPA compliant in that comparison. It's a little apples and oranges.

I'm certainly not arguing that. I'm right there with you in fact. But that hole will be there even without the tune being compromised by the EPA. The airbox and exhaust are also compromised by noise regulation. And the airbox is further compromised by where it's packaged on the bike. Look...

So you're saying Yamaha needs to add variable valve timing and actually optimize the airbox? I'm game.

Fair play. But consider how much higher the emissions are because of all the speed parts that it takes to get there. It's not just the tuner boxes that are affected by the precedent the EPAs childish tantrum has set. Under their previous blanket-ban proposal, ANYTHING that altered the emissions...

The EPA is throwing a temper tantrum because they couldn't get their blanket ban passed. So now they're targetting the same things that ban would have covered in a more direct way. Now that they've managed to set a precedent, I expect it wont be long before they collapse the after market vendors.
