    Fuel injector test

Thank you all for your replies. The FZ6 onboard diagnostics are like the FJR's. The injectors clicked 5 times like they were supposed to. I used water on the header pipes to find the cold cylinder. The spark plug was dry upon removal. I'm selling the bike so I'm just going to check out this one...

    Fuel injector test

I removed a fuel injector from my wife's FZ6. The cylinder wasn't firing and I was getting spark from the plug. I'm getting 12.4 ohms resistance through the electrical connector. When I hook the injector up to a battery I'm not getting any clicking sound.( or the pintel isn't being activated.) I...

    Throttle cable replacement

I finally got around to removing the airbox and it is an easy straight forward operation. The throttle cables were fine and the butterflies were all gunked up. The airbox needs to be removed to clean the butterflies out. It also fixed my erratic idle. My motor mounts were fine when I put a...

    Throttle cable replacement

I need to replace my throttle return cable and I can not see how it can be done without removing the throttle bodies. I am in need of any guidance I can get to simplify this task. My throttle is sticking closed. I have already cleaned the pivot points on the butterflies and have narrowed it down...

    Idle at 1800 can't adjust

Good question! I will check that now before I leave for work. Cold idle speed is about 2000 RPM. Thanks

    Idle at 1800 can't adjust

My 05 FJR with 31000 miles has sat for about a year. I got a new battery and fired it right up. After it warms up it will not idle down. It is idling at 1800 RPM and the idle adjustment does not help it. I synced the carbs prior to it being down for about a year. The throttle has at least 2 mm...

    Putting the wheels back on.

If you are worried about scratching the wheel while removing or installing the calipers, you will get a lot more clearance by removing the brake pads prior to removing the calipers. A 2" putty knife is a great tool for reinstalling the pads while the calipers are mounted.

My amps/volts are too low to start sometimes?

Do you know if the battery was fully charged prior to installing on the bike? That could be a big part of the problem if it wasn't. Good luck.

    Missing on #2

Any reason a leak down test wasn't conducted prior to taking off the head if you suspected bad compression? I'm glad you got it going and did it yourself!

    Rust in gas tank

My wife let her bike sit for about 6 months and when I tried to start it, it fried the fuel pump. The pump was replaced under warranty (YES). The tech discovered the inside of the fuel tank is rusting. After I flush the tank out is there some type of coating I can use to seal the tank to stop...

    Throttle Adjustment

You need to adjust the cables at the engine first and then fine tune at the throttle. The cable nearest the throttle body is what you want to adjust to pick up the slack. The recommended free play is 3 - 5 mms. The free play has no bearing on how hard the throttle is to turn, so don't expect it...

We need a FAQ on Battery Voltage

Minimum charge for the battery would be 12.8 vdc. It sounds like you want to know if your battery will charge with all your accessories on. You would need to hook your charging system up to a ferret to get that figured out. Something else I would do if I were you is do a milli amp draw on your...

    Fork Noise

I had the same problem. It turns out the steering head nut was loose. The upper ring nut needs to be checked also. If I recall right this was a fairly common problem. It's easy to check for if it's real loose. Put it on the centerstand and have someone lean on the rear so the front end comes up...

    FZ6 info

    1. I can help. 2. The handling is fine for 1 up riding. 3. The wind protection is not the greatest. An after market windshield fixed that. 4. The bike has more than enough power. (matter of opinion) 5. It should be a great daily commuter. I ride an FJR and I bought an 05 FZ6 for my wife...

    Aerostich Roadcrafter 1 Piece Suit

Am currently looking for a riding suit that can be used in the winter and the summer. I've read good things about the Aerostich roadcrafter 1 piece. Before spending the big bucks I wanted to get some informed opinions. It will be used for touring, going to the store, and all around riding...

    2005 Tires

I was happy with the stock battle axes on my 05. When the time came to replace them I was going to go with Avons from Sunnyside. I ended up getting the Michelin road pilots because of an unexpected long ride coming up and I didn't have time to make it to Sunnyside. Anyway I don't know how the...

I have had luck using a dental tool to pry and pull the seal out.
