    The Navy Cross

Everyone, Here's a local story that says the ceremony is this Friday 2/20/09 but gives no details. After reading the paper yesterday it stirred up memories of Jordan's sacrifice. God Bless all who serve... dgfella

    Pedrosa's Manager speaks out

After reading this Puig crap, I'm so pissed. What a jerk. He's neglecting to mention that Honda was feeding Nicky all the 'experimental' stuff and giving it to Pedrosa only after Nicky worked out the kinks. Pedrosa was their premier rider, and he couldn't produce. All the BS about Dani's...

Sticking brakes of pad change + new rotors

Everyone: Thanks for the replies. I cannot spin the wheel more than an 1/8th of a revolution. I've driven about 50 miles with this situation and it hasn't gotten any better. My next step is to disassemble the calipers and thoroughly clean the pistons with a toothbrush and brake cleaner...

Sticking brakes of pad change + new rotors

Sport: The wheel free spins just a bit. There is defintely drag on the wheel. It's as if the brakes are not fully releasing. They are rubbing against the rotors. The rotors heat up considerably when you ride. I rode the bike 10 miles or so to see if that made a difference, but it did not...

Sticking brakes of pad change + new rotors

Gang, I finally got around to putting on the Galfer rotors, front and rear. I also replaced the pads as well with Carbon Lorraines. It appears that both wheels have a bit of drag on them, and are not releasing fully. I've bled the brakes, but they still stick. I also partially diassembled...

    TBS not needed

Ski, if you were watching them, then I stand corrected and apologize to all dealers/mechanics out there.

    TBS not needed

You got snowed dude... I've got a 2005 and every time I've done a check with a synchronizer, they've needed to be tweaked. Bottom line, if they went to the trouble of hooking up the device, then they would have adjusted something. You probably threw them off by asking about the TBS, and the...

    Turn signal indicators

I have these on my '05... AS TURN SIGNALS!!!! Dude, habits form in 21 days. If you consciously focus on reminding yourself, 3 weeks later you'll never forget.

My First (second, third, fourth) Track Day

Drew, I've been to Keith Code 4 times. It's awesome, he and his coaches are excellent. It sounds like you got a bum coach. I can tell you for a fact that every coach I've had gave me sufficient time and attention and did not 'script' anything. I suggest you go to Keith's website and contact...

    Battery died today...

Timbo, I did the same thing this weekend. It's a 'Made in China' battery, but is has a 2 year guarantee and was in stock. $86 with tax. I'll see how it runs.

    Battery died today...

I went out to go for my Sunday ride this morning AND: Bad News: The bike would not turn over as the battery was dead. Good news: 15 minutes after I gave up trying to start it, the sky opened up with a killer thunderstorm. BUT More Good news: I noticed that the battery wasn't taking a full...

so what exactly happened to my brakes

Looks to me like you bottomed the suspension really hard and cracked the line. Are your front suspension settings soft? You can replace this easily if you are mechanically inclined. Use the ABS brake line install threads/info as a guide.

Any last minute prep stuff I should do before picking up my new FJR Tomorrow?

Bring an extra pair of shorts. On my pickup day, I did an unintentional power wheelie in second gear!

    Oil Drain Bolts

Also, I believe that there is much more 'foreign matter' on the first drive fluid change. The good news is that it is some kind of assembly lube that is used, which gets removed in the first fluid change. Oh, and by the way, I'm one of those anal retentive bastards who has recently replaced...

    IT'S ALIVE!!!

ponyfool, Awesome job on the tranny. Let me say that you've got some big brass ones taking on something like this. I'm good with a wrench and have professional mechanic friends, but I doubt I'd have the courage to pull the engine out and apart. Here's to you. Happy motoring. dgfella

    36mm Socket

I bought mine at Sears (12pt). I wrap the steering head in teflon tape or plastic so it doesn't scratch. If you look in the specialty tools section of most auto stores, they have the right socket listed as a brake tool. They do overcharge a bit since it is 'specialty'.

    Backrest wanted... suggestions too.

I've got a Garauld backrest in '05 blue that I'd be willing to sell you. I bought it on a whim from another member, and decided against using it. PM me if interested. I forget what I paid for it, but I'll pass it on for $60 + shipping <<<<<BACKREST SOLD TO...

Looking for a Place to Live in Brooklyn

Bay Ridge or Brooklyn Heights would be great places to live. Both have access to public transportation that is also safe. If you know where she is going to teach, that helps. The best thing is to minimize transfers and methods using public transportation.

A couple of pictures and a link in memory of Jordan

Axe, I'm truly sorry for your loss. Your son was an exceptional soldier and hero. I've always believed that our time on earth is our time to learn what it takes to become closer to God. When someone so young passes, it means to me that they learned and grew and became closer to him in their...
