    Heated grips for 2006 FJR

Hi Folks! I haven't visited in a long time but realized I wanted to get heated grips, couldn't find them anywhere, and thought maybe someone here could offer some suggestions. I have an '06 and my husband and I are planning a trip in September. I never know what the weather will be like so...

Not even 4 days -- Dropped it..

I love that story! We taught our daughter to ride. Got her a Ninja 500 but she is short and even that bike was difficult for her to reach the ground. She threw that thing down so many times we lost count! But we knew it would happen and bought a used bike just for that reason!

Not even 4 days -- Dropped it..

The first time is always the worst! I dropped mine on the left side leaving work. Luckily my daughter and friend were waiting to ride home with me and they helped pick it up! I thought about getting it repainted but decided to wait. Last year on vacation I dropped it on the other side! I...

Sagebrush is out west..... Made it! (Will be picture heavy)

I loved all your pictures and your ride report. We are heading out on Saturday and will probably hit some of those spots. We've been many times before but I never tire of that part of the country. Glad you had a good trip!

    Yellowstone & Beartooth

My husband & I are headed up that way Sept 5th. I'm hoping for nice weather. You just never know what you'll run into! Got caught in snowstorm in yellowstone one year...thought I'd never make it to the Old Faithful Inn! But, the park was lovely in the snow! I am looking forward to the Chief...

    Proud Dad / Nervous Dad

Reading your posts and seeing the pictures brings back memories. For my daughter's 21st birthday we got her a Ninja 500. She took the MSC and aced it. Her biggest problem is her short legs. She struggled with the bike the first year she had it. Then, second year, she and I were out riding...

    Going to the Sun Highway

Last year my husband and I took a trip that way. We stayed at a campground a few miles south of the southern entrance to the park. They had tent, RV and camping cabins. It was a nice place and not too expensive. There are lots of choices so I don't think you'll have a problem. There was...

    Riding with kids

I love that picture of your daughter on the bike! My daughter wanted to ride all the time with my husband and I. I have pictures of her sitting on her Dad's RC30 trying to reach the handlebars and have her feet on the pegs. It was her goal to ride that bike herself. Unfortunately, he sold...

    Universal Vista Cruise

I have the trottlemeister on my '06. Haven't had any problems with it. I had the Vista cruise on my previous bikes and it drove me crazy. Would lock for awhile but then slowly would release. When I got the FJR I read about the throttlemeister, bought it, and love it!

REVISED POLL - How old are you

I'm 57 and have been street legal for 27 years. I always dated guys who rode bikes even though my parents forbid me to ride! I finally bought my first bike in 1981, a Kawasaki GPZ550! The FJR was the first Yamaha I ever owned and will probably be the last!

    Buy a 2005 or 2006?

My first FJR was the '05. I loved it. It was perfect for me. I'm only 5'6" and I had no problems with the size of the bike. My husband thought if the '05 was so wonderful, then the '06 would be even better. When I picked the new bike up I was shocked at the difference. Maybe to many people...

    iPod Holder

I have a remote attached to the bars but keep the ipod in my coat pocket. It keeps it from the elements and I can adjust volume, on or off, using the remote. Generally, if I'm on a long ride, I turn it on and just leave it.

How did you learn to ride?

What great stories! I loved reading them all. My brother had a scooter when I was 9 years old and he was 17. I thought he was the greatest person in the world so if he rode a scooter, I wanted to ride one too. Only my father forbid me from even getting on any motorized 2 wheeled bike! His...

How are those employed doing in this economy ?

I work in a hospital pharmacy so I'm not too worried about my job. Our company built a lovely, huge, new facility this year and is now utilizing the old and the new facility. I was not surprised to learn that they are having some financial "issues". So, they have started laying off people...

    Top Case Options

I've been using a soft sided tail bag that I used when I had my old Ninja. My husband made a different rear rack so I could hook the bag on. But I have been thinking about getting either the Givi or Yamaha truck. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to which one would be the...
