Step 1: Remove the Headlight Knob

That method does not work on the GenIII. You have to get the inside panel off first before you can even get to the instrument cluster.

Ug . . . So things have changed again. I MAY be coming. The wife won't, but there is a possibility for me.

    A Video Ride Report

hppants: Thank you. Once we got out of the area that had the community festivals, the back roads were very clear. The problem was clearing the community festivals. We didn't know they were going on that day, so we had to make changes on the fly. Coming home, since we took the slab, had a bit of...

    Rally's in the PNW?

Thank you. The break was back in December. However, it is fully healed . . . although I don't have 100% range of motion or my strength back. That's not stopping me from riding now.

    Ridin' in the Rain

The better your primary gear is at handling a wide variety of weather conditions the better. I won't argue there. Given the weather conditions in this corner of the country, I still stand by good rain gear that can be put on or taken off quickly.

Adding LED Strips to a Gen 3 Mirror

I couldn't find an admore set that was the right size and flexible. Do you provide a link? I have a feeling my solution will be cheaper in the long-run, but is (nearly certainly) a more time-consuming installation.

    Ridin' in the Rain

First, I will second the recommendation for a pin lock to prevent fogging up. However, if you ride in changeable weather conditions, you don't want to stop, take off your pants, zip in the liner, and put the pants back on. Also, if it gets super wet, the jacket alone won't keep you dry and...

Adding LED Strips to a Gen 3 Mirror

I'm having a very slow morning at work, so I took some time to do a more complete write-up. As mentioned earlier, I installed 4.5" Radiantz flexible amber strips. The Radiantz come with two leads about three feet long. One lead is yellow (positive), and the other is black (negative). Running...

Adding LED Strips to a Gen 3 Mirror

That is correct. I would need a second array for running lights. What would you like to know? I didn't take pictures, as I was too busy trying to sort the process out.

Adding LED Strips to a Gen 3 Mirror

The positioning has an extra benifit: I see them, so I turn them off

Alright! I finished and here is a brief video of the final test before dressing the wires and buttoning up the bike:

    Ridin' in the Rain

As a daily commuter in the Great Pacific North-Wet, I can say that you do not need a cover. A cover gets to be a hassle very quickly. The only time I take along a cover is a small 1/4 cover when I'm camping. This is to keep the tree goop off the bike. Rain gear has been covered in previous...
