    LED headlight for 2013?

May be right about it being heat related. 50 + 55 watts of incandescent bulb heat would be hard to dissipate. Which reminds me that I did not mention that my old led “bulbs” have the little cooling fans too. They fit easily behind the FJR headlamp assembly, and have yet to be a problem...

    LED headlight for 2013?

I’ve still got the same set of LEDs that I once had in my ‘05 FJR now in my ‘14. The LED elements on mine look quite similar to the ones linked to in the OP. The most important part of the “bulb” for proper low beam cutoff are the little cup shaped shades on the outermost (low beam) LEDs...

    Park & Move Dolly?

You do have all those FJRs you have to stack up in there. ;)

    Windscreen shimming

On my 1st Gen, I searched high and low for the best solution. I’m 6’2” tall with 32” inseam, so relatively tall in the saddle. And I also got a Russell Daylong saddle for that bike, which was the best money I ever spent on it besides gas and hotel rooms. But the Russell and Heli bars risers...

TIRES?? What tires are everyone running on their FJR?

Yep, that was my favorite setup. I’ve got a Metzler something or other on the front now with the PR2. It’s ok, but not as good as the Bridgestones were.

TIRES?? What tires are everyone running on their FJR?

I recently put a new PR2 on the rear of mine. Was able to find some 2 years ago with nearly new date code. I always loved those tires on the back. But, alas it is my last NOS PR2. Bought some Shinko Raven 9’s for the next go. I’ve read a few bad reviews, but I just have to try them at the...

    Seat options

I’ve told this story on this forum before, but it’s been a while, so here goes: When I bought my 1st Gen (2005 w/ 10k miles) it came with a Corbin “close”, which is supposed to be for shorter riders, which I am not one of. I loved my new to me FJR but couldn’t stand the seat. Thinking maybe...

    Garmin Zumo discount

I’m still running my zumo 550 on the FJR. Still able to update the maps loading them on my SD cards, as I described in the thread linked to above. Still using a Starcom wired headset. It still works, so why mess with it? I still also have a zumo 660 too, which I use on my Africa Twin and...

    Gps Recomendations

Zumo 396-LMT-S is a no-brainer at $270 new, shipped, from gpscity on eBay.

    Gps Recomendations

The 550 BT is ok, but it is only the hands free profile, so is totally monaural. That’s why I still use the Starcom1 box and wired headsets on the FJR. The 66X series added A2DP profile, which gives you stereo music, but the implementation is crude. On mine, it often switches profiles back...

    Gps Recomendations

Still rockin’ my old zumo 550 on the FJR with wired Starcom headsets. I have a zumo 660 on my Africa Twin because it will display tracks and I can bluetooth connect into the helmet, both of which are nice when off roading. Two years ago I picked up a zumo 396 that now does duty on a Bonneville...

    helibars question - tank interference?

I have the helibar bridge on my 2014.  While it is more difficult, it is just barely possible to lift the tank on the rear pivot with the bridge in place.  It is the bracket on the front of the tank that the two (notoriously soft) Allen head cap screws go through that fouls against the...

Thinking of buying a Fluke automotive ScopeMeter... Thoughts, Ideas?

I’ve got something similar (also Fluke) that was “acquired” from work when they were getting rid of them.  Honestly, I don’t find all that much use for it, and certainly not worth that price, IMO.  There just aren’t that many times that you need a scope for troubleshooting vehicles.  A good...

ear buds or in helmet bluetooth

I have observed an interesting phenomenon in regards to hearing helmet speakers with foam ear plugs: It seems to me that the better the seal, and the more complete the attenuation is, the better I can hear the music and gps prompts from the helmet speakers. If the seal is imperfect, or if I...

    Aftermarket Brake Rotors

I know it would be more money. I’m not as stupid as I look. Spend $150 on questionable crap or a little more for a known quantity. Or just leave the perfectly good rotors you already have on the bike. That’s what it comes down to.

    Aftermarket Brake Rotors

For that kind of money I think I’d go with a name brand.

love the bike, the stock seat not so much

Get a heatTroller and you will have infinite levels of heat. I don’t get the need for Butt heat but maybe that’s just me.

    Mirror Wideners by SW Motech

Yes. I have FZ-1 mirrors on my 3rd Gen 2014 along with a set of the WynPro no-vibe aux light brackets. I had just the mirrors on first and only needed a few washer/spacers under the mirrors to fit them into the relieved areas of the farino. There are photos of the mirrors on my 2014 in the...

Let's see what jacket you're using.

^ Thats a big plus, IMO. The idea of putting a rain liner on the inside of a jacket, either mesh or non-WP textile, just doesnt work that well. Although I do use my WP liner from my Airglide 3 as an additional layer inside of other GoreTex shells sometimes, as a belt and suspenders approach to...
