Riding Baja 101 Tip and Riding Mexico 101 Advisement:

"Don,
When this ride was first proposed I looked at the riding schedule and thought that there would be lighter riding days. While we are accustom to covering big miles in the U.S. on better more improved freeway systems it quickly became apparent that wasn't going to be possible in Baja. With Hwy. 1 being the only route, the traffic, conditions and services proved your experience was right on. Even if you did want to cover more, I don't think it would have been possible. Good advice for a first time traveler would be to have reasonable expectations.
Fred"

Fred F., "juniorFJR", makes an excellent point here: You have to lay out your routes with less mileage than you would for a United States or Canada ride.

We had 4 days to cover 1,600 miles from Phoenix to Cabo San Lucas; in USA or CA you can easily ride 600 miles in a day's time, in Mexico it's only 400!

Don you did an excellent job herding the mob of cats that went with you to Cabo. Brian also gets points for getting us through military checkpoints without a single shot being fired our way. This was a ride I will remember for a long time. After all when most of the conversation at the fuel stops centers on who almost became a hood ornament while making a pass, you know your having an adventure. Thanks for a great time.

De nada Senor Darrel Wells, con mucho Gusto! Tambien, I'll treasure Memories of "Mas Caminos y Mas Amigos de Dos Cabos Baja"!

AZ Beemer BearTrax: Bob, Great report and pics, awesome ride.

Look foward to another Baja Run, maybe
at Papa Chuy's next birthday!
~Bear

BearTrax, mark your Calendar: From October 5 through 13, a Saturday through the following Sunday, I'm leading Miguel Viejo (Old Michael), El Grande Dane (Dr. Rich), El Irlandes (Seamus MacTreinfhir) and Grandfather Niehart (Dave B.) to Mulege in Baja California Sur, Mexico.

This is going to be a rough and tough "Guy's Ride", not saying las Mujeres are excluded (I'd even let SkooterG and HotRodZilla ride along!) however it is definitely an "Econo Budget" ride South of the Border! This recent Dos Cabos trip had $200 USD a night rooms and $75 USD dinners.

October's ride consists of $50 a night rooms and we'll be eating off of the street food carts for $5. I'll be on my 2013 FJR and we'll be riding some dirt! Papa Chuy Viejo will bringing snorkeling gear (fins, mask, snorkel and spear gun) and all my surf fishing tackle. I'll catch our meals, ese!

10/5 - Ensenada, Baja California Norte (crossing over at Tecate, California/obtaining Mexican Tourist Permits) https://www.hotelelcid.com.mx/welcome.htm

Eye carumba Don will be riding his FJR on a manly man's ride in Rocktober whilst Fontanaman will be wishing for retirement. Not to mention dreading the upcoming winter months.

A year from now rushes, next February, would work perfectly for Papa Chuy Viejo. In Summer of 2014 I have a huge and expensive motorcycle ride of Ireland and Scotland planned. Definitely have to include YamaBill on the 2014 Baja Bucket List Ride, Tucson Joe would be broken hearted if yamafitter wasn't there!
I'm game for that. I'll even bring my tow rope for Miss Piggy.

Sounds great YamaBill, I was hoping you would come along on this ride. You can help us keep "Q-Tip" Scott in line, Goofy Texan's just too much work for only Rushes and I to handle!
