If the tax money was used for what it is collected for that would be fine. And if the tax money was spent wisely and not wasted through fraud, waste and abuse it might be OK. Next, they are going to do what Oregon is testing. Charge you 1.5 cents a mile for driving. Those of you planning on leaving California, please do not bring all that stuff to Colorado. Take it to Kansas.

Montana is closed as well, but I hear some very nice things about Saskatchewan.
It would be tough to stomach increased taxes in California given how much is spent on giving support to illegals and other pet projects of Gov. Moonbeam and his ilk.

Here in SD the trend seems to be towards imposing a Wheel Tax at the county level to fund county road maintenance.
We have no income tax, the cities and state get the sales tax.
The counties and schools get the property tax, with the bulk of it going to fund education. We pay our teachers the worst salaries in the country, we continually rank 49th or 50th, but that is another story.
Fact is stuff costs more than it used too and taxes to fund road and other infrastructure repair/replacement haven't kept pace with inflation. None of us want to pay more taxes, we want the other guy to pay.

Just wait until they tack on the carbon offset cost. It won't be called a tax because it will be paid at the refinery, but you'll pay.
California will probably put the increased revenue into the general fund so they can line their pockets.
This State is always in the lead when it comes to gouging it's tax payers by waiting for something to turn into a crisis instead of taking care of business
on a timely basis. It never ends and it never will.
BTW Idaho is closed.
