LOL that would be me, hiding my electronic gear from thieving eyes...

Great meeting you as well Hans! I enjoyed the conversation at lunch and then following you around the art gallery and picking your brains on the artists' techniques, history and their other works, it was almost like a full fledged guided tour and made it all the more enjoyable.

Sam, it was nice meeting and riding with you, and talking art. I told you Bierstadt painted in Europe. Below is his Lake Lucerne, Switzerland, which is hanging in the Natl Gallery in Washington DC. It's about 8 feet wide. I did some research: He was born in Germany and came over to the US in the late 1850s when he was in his mid- to late 20s.

But the best of the best, and a competitor of Bierstadt, was Frederic Church, which the museum does not have. Here is his Heart of the Andes, fully 10-feet wide:

And his Niagara Falls:

Had a great time riding with the norcal gang.
Took some pictures I thought were important to the forum.

I think this one is called Girls of the FJRForum or Party at Barb's.

Are you SURE that isn't a party at Barb's?

If you look very close to the right hand side, you can make out the outline of a peeping tom's left arm. The picture taker obviously didn't get the whole picture :)

The painting is by the Frenchman William-Adolphe Bouguereau, a very interesting artistic genius who painted during the second half of the 1800s, then fell out of favor till around the 1970s when he was rediscovered. From Wikipedia:

In 1974, the New York Cultural Center staged a show of Bouguereau's work as a curiosity. In 1984, the Borghi Gallery hosted the commercial show of his 23 oil paintings and 1 drawing. In the same year a major exhibition was organized by the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts, in Canada. The exhibition opened at the Musée du Petit-Palais, in Paris, traveled to The Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, and concluded in Montréal. This was the beginning of renewal of interest about Bouguereau. In 1997 Mark Borghi and Laura Borghi organized an early Internet exhibition. Bouguereau present day supporters also include New Jersey millionaire, businessman, and art collector Fred Ross whose internet-based Art Renewal Center heavily features Bouguereau's work as part of their advocacy for the re-appreciation of academic art. Today, over one hundred museums throughout the world exhibit Bouguereau's works.
See more of his paintings here. Possibly NWS--19thc. "porn." :D

LOL, well, given the crowd you were hanging with that day... guess I can't say I blame you!
HA! I know you jest, the NorCal FJR crew were/are a stellar group!

The bike was covered while we were inside the Museum, it is not a good idea leaving valuable gadgets unattended and in plain sight in any town, but especially in Stockton/Modesto :)

When I park my bike at work, there's an attendant, so I don't remove my GPS and Sat radio. It's easy to do, but I'm afraid I'm going to wear out the female USB connection (already happened once). So I put a small Cloak of Invisibility over the units so no one will steal them. Same principle as PC's bike cover, and just as effective I'm sure. :(
