What RPM range do you ride in normally

Just curious , after looking at a few FJR dyno's , during normal riding what RPM do most of you ride in?

It looks like 5000-7000 is the optimum torque range.

Thanks guys , I appreciate the information and yes I am serious.

I'm putting a deposit on an 07 as soon as the PDP is available.

As I'm a performance engineer by trade , I always like to look at specs and extrapolate the various merits.

I plotted the dyno curve of an FJR against my current ride to see in the normal rpm range what the difference was .

Based on a 3500-5000 range it's fairly comparable:

The FJR has 8-15ft lbs torque and 8-20hp less (in stock form) but is 40lbs lighter

Past 5000 RPM it's no contest , the FJR rules supreme.

The FJR has better wind protection,luggage space , handling and brakes .

No one bike is perfect , that's why having 2 (or more) makes it more fun.

The you need to take into consideration that some of the data that was offered was probably from bikes that were pre '06 models, which have different final drive ratios. The '06's have a higher final gear ratio; I don't recall what they were though.

 
Judging from my TPS wearing out in the 3.2k RPM range I'm guessing that I spend quit a bit of time there. There was also a lot of heavy wear right up to 100% throttle though.

 
The dyno's I've seen (2) were from pre 06.

The last sport touring bike I had was the BMW k75s , quite a few years ago, it was more than adequate at the time.

I'm sure with the advances in suspension and much more potent engine I'll be quite happy.

On a related topic, simply out of curiosity--while headed home from work yesterday along a stretch of I20 I was cruising at about 80 (taking into consideration the speedo inaccuracy I am assuming my actual speed was prolly closer to about 75). My tach was indicating about 4700-4800 on my 04. Is that about average for most everyone else?
