This is correct. We're talking about the "pre-war" years - between the great wars, in fact.I think you may in the wrong war era.

Those two are good photoshops. You should use that image as your stock one. The graphics of course are weird but that's a nice idea about painting the front fender and bags a different color than the rest. The fuel tank might also be a good candidate for painting a second color in addition to those, I would think.
I have a couple of requests if you could be so kind: sand beige (mouse over the tan rectangle), which is approximately RGB(180,160,140) and shades thereof, and what Wikipedia calls forest green.
How about the Boeing P-26 Peashooter? Can you name the plane that inspired this?
Holy hell, that thing is amazing, man. Now that was some really artistic work.Pardon the interruption of this thread...but if you like aviation themed bikes, you GOTTA check out this Suzuki M109R that I came across on the M109 forum...

You need to check out the entire photo thread on that M109 forum....Pound for pound, those Zuk 109'ers put more bling/chrome/farkles on their mounts that any other brand/model I've ever come across. Kinda makes me want a MR as a 2nd bike!
RedFJR, I hope you won't mind if I took some liberties with your photograph and excellent looking red bike, and won't sue me for copyright violation, but here a couple of WWII tribute ideas. I dig old planes:
Someone had mentioned P40 teeth:
Can you name the plane that inspired this?
This scheme might look better on a Triumph:
I friggin' dig bomber nose art. Hooray for pin up girls.
That's it, guys. My creativity is exhausted. Hope you get a laugh.

Sorry to have hijacked it, Barry. Was having some creative fun. Those photoshop bikes look great, but aren't there more real world painted bikes out there? I almost forgot what this thread was about.
I think that is Desert Metallic. My favorite color.
Chris, I love the idea, but ironically, was similarly a little conflicted about historic US themes on a Japanese bike. (They didn't have very fancy paint schemes on the Zero's, though, so that was out!) I think a grey F14 scheme would be awesome, though. You know better than me, but those guys had some decent paint jobs, especially on the tails. (I grew up in Alameda - my high school was next to the Naval Air Station - mascot was the Jets.) Would love to see you execute on it when you do!Zip... holy chit, man, that is too ironic!! Three days ago I was showing my wife a sketch of what I was thinking of painting on my 07... it was a Warhawk theme!!! Damned close to what you P'shopped on that (nice work by the way...)...I paint, and one of my genres happens to be aviation art, and from day one I considered either a modern fighter theme, a mid 50's early jet theme, or a WW2 theme. I was not sure how an American themed aircraft on a Jap bike would feel... my family is full'a vets from all over the military/war tree... (myself included). I launched fighters off carriers for a number of years and was torn between an F14 and the Warhawk... I'll let you know if I muster up the balls to paint on my own faster blackcherry bike...
