I think you may in the wrong war era.
This is correct. We're talking about the "pre-war" years - between the great wars, in fact.

Those two are good photoshops. You should use that image as your stock one. The graphics of course are weird but that's a nice idea about painting the front fender and bags a different color than the rest. The fuel tank might also be a good candidate for painting a second color in addition to those, I would think.

I have a couple of requests if you could be so kind: sand beige (mouse over the tan rectangle), which is approximately RGB(180,160,140) and shades thereof, and what Wikipedia calls forest green.

looks like army recruiters bikes,or bette midler should be sittin side saddle.

I'd like to do something like this with my feej. Any of you photoshop pros able to do something up so we can see what it would look like?

Kenny Roberts Edition

BTW, I like the warplane themes.

Personally I really like the silver-grey on the FJR, and was my color of choice, but the 07 Red is a colse second. I like my 05 Blue, but it is my first blue vehicle period.... and the only thing I am not thrilled about. But, it was a real selling point for SWMBO though, so..... <_< .

If I ever paint the FJR, it will probably be in matching theme with my 442, which is Candied Black Cherry with Satin Black accents and Cutlass Style Hood Stripes. WOuld do the FJR in the same two tone the C-10 Concours had, really liked that color. Then again, I'd really like to see an FJR in a deep/fine metallic dark green and silver. Ah, thats why you cant just own one......... ;-) Gotta have variety.

Pardon the interruption of this thread...but if you like aviation themed bikes, you GOTTA check out this Suzuki M109R that I came across on the M109 forum...

Holy hell, that thing is amazing, man. Now that was some really artistic work.

You need to check out the entire photo thread on that M109 forum....Pound for pound, those Zuk 109'ers put more bling/chrome/farkles on their mounts that any other brand/model I've ever come across. Kinda makes me want a MR as a 2nd bike!

Those photoshop bikes look great, but aren't there more real world painted bikes out there? I almost forgot what this thread was about.

RedFJR, I hope you won't mind if I took some liberties with your photograph and excellent looking red bike, and won't sue me for copyright violation, but here a couple of WWII tribute ideas. I dig old planes:
Someone had mentioned P40 teeth:

Can you name the plane that inspired this?

This scheme might look better on a Triumph:

I friggin' dig bomber nose art. Hooray for pin up girls.

That's it, guys. My creativity is exhausted. Hope you get a laugh.

Barry

The P-40 shark teeth is the best idea I have seen by far for an fjr paintjob. I love this one. I was leaning towards something with checkers but the sharks teeth is my new favorite idea. I really like the bomber nose art too.

Very nice and thanks for the cool ideas!

The neighborhood kids would go nuts if I rolled in with the P-40 shark's mouth!!! I might do it on my '07 with tapework just to give them a thrill. :D

Sorry to have hijacked it, Barry. Was having some creative fun.

What do you have in mind? Why copy someone else's bike if you're looking to do something unique?

Best wishes,

Barry

No problem. It wasn't a hijack and I didn't mean it as such. I see very few painted or creatively modified Feejers and just wondered if there were many out there. The photoshop images are great and I'm sure they sparked some great ideas. I hope to see those ideas in the real world.

This is my friends FJR. He had it pin striped at Laconia NH last June. I thinks it's subtle but pretty cool looking.

Zip... holy chit, man, that is too ironic!! Three days ago I was showing my wife a sketch of what I was thinking of painting on my 07... it was a Warhawk theme!!! Damned close to what you P'shopped on that (nice work by the way...)...I paint, and one of my genres happens to be aviation art, and from day one I considered either a modern fighter theme, a mid 50's early jet theme, or a WW2 theme. I was not sure how an American themed aircraft on a Jap bike would feel... my family is full'a vets from all over the military/war tree... (myself included). I launched fighters off carriers for a number of years and was torn between an F14 and the Warhawk... I'll let you know if I muster up the balls to paint on my own faster blackcherry bike...

Chris, I love the idea, but ironically, was similarly a little conflicted about historic US themes on a Japanese bike. (They didn't have very fancy paint schemes on the Zero's, though, so that was out!) I think a grey F14 scheme would be awesome, though. You know better than me, but those guys had some decent paint jobs, especially on the tails. (I grew up in Alameda - my high school was next to the Naval Air Station - mascot was the Jets.) Would love to see you execute on it when you do!

MM2, your piccie don't show. I was able to see it by quoting your post and copying the URL of your image into another browser window, but it doesn't show in the post. Dunno why, maybe the site kills link-ins.

If you want a Japanese air scheme, I took this, from my Naval Aviation Museum shots:

and Photoshopped my silver '03 to get this. (I didn't ellipse-ize the rising sun insiginia on the sidebag so it doesn't look right. I stopped the yellow at the FJR logo, but I think I'd like it better all the way up the fairing. Otherwise I like it.)
