Yep. WD-40 stands for "Water Displacement, 40th Formula". Originally designed for rocket fuel tanks to prevent corrosion. I used to work for the company in San Diego that designed it.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes and well wishes. Also thanks for the ideas on sliders and cages.
I might do what "Pie Smuggler" suggested and get the 2013 grey foot guards and have them painted to match the 2014 red. I have the ES model, so hopefully there isn't any difference in mounting...
I've been thinking about that. I might go with the Yamaha frame sliders that are made for the FJR. I really wish they had the foot wind deflectors for the 2014 model (red). They have the grey ones for the 2013 model, but no red. The Yamaha frame sliders go with the foot deflectors and make it...
MNFJR05, how did you get the factory Yamaha footguards? I can see them on the Europe website accessories, but I don't see them on Yamaha's US website. Was your local dealer able to get them?
Actually, I was able to find the OEM set for the '13. Can't find them for the '14 in Red.
Thanks OldButNotDead.
Curious why you chose the A model over the ES for your new bike. Was it simply the cost difference, or was there other considerations?

Yamaha's published specs for the FJR indicate a fuel efficiency of 36 mpg. How accurate is that based on everyones experience? I have read in this forum of owners getting 46 mpg. Curious what to believe. I'm planning on purchasing a new 2014 ES next week. Great deal going into winter. $13,496.00...
How about moving date to mid August and going to central PA. State College has a ton of hotels and restaurants. Some beautiful country to ride in any direction. Lots of variability in terrain and roads and sights. Explore north for Grand Canyon of PA. Go south along the Susquehanna River. Go...
