    FJR Forum Decal design

It works for me as long as you lose the Givi (which I have oddly enough). I have always preferred the stock look anyway. I like the idea of having the tuning fork on the tank although it's obviously an FJR so not totally necessary.

    Backoff

Access the tail lights via under the passenger seat. Very easy install - just swap out the OEM bulb and put in the TailBlazers. I have the Tailblazers in conjunction with the Hyperlites. Very noticeable!

    Mature Riders and FJR's

When I bought my FJR, I was 28. Now, I'm 34 and still very happy with my FJR. I think it does have something to do with money. All the old peeps seem to have a compulsory new-FJR purchase reflex. The way things are going, my bike will be considered old long before I am... :yahoo: Jim.

    Another one down

Larry, I'm glad to hear you're ok. Now, I just hope you have a big-screen monitor and wireless keyboard so you can surf from the comfort of your bed! Seriously, though, I was fortunate to have you around when I last went down and know, first-hand, the kind of assistance you would give to...

Who Commutes on the FJR Daily?

120 miles a day, round trip, 6 days a week. Some pretty bad roads for a while chewed up my tires at an alarming rate.... well, that and a heavy wrist. Great for commuting but nothing hurts more than changing out tires, regularly, because of the stripe down the center. Out here in the Mojave...

    Pillion Knee Pain Question

Sherri & Andrew, My wife, Valerie, also experienced some knee pain returning from Reno to Helendale. I've since ordered the Motorcycle Larry passenger peg extenders but haven't had a chance to try them out with her on the bike. I also considered Knifemaker's passenger floor boards. Like you...

    Kimpex heaters over stock grips

I'm currently waiting for some time to install both my Kimpex heaters as well as the Grip puppies. From my understanding, the heaters require a heat sink in order to absorb some of the heat to prevent your hands from getting nuked and to bleed off some of the heat in order to prevent damaging...

    FJR Hot weather riding gear

I use my full leather jacket (vented) with an evaporative cooling vest (Silver Eagle outfitters) up until about 105 degrees (sustained). Above that I switch to my mesh/armored jacket, with the vest, in order to benefit from more airflow. Yesterday, driving through the Mojave desert (hwy 395 to...

Stranded with a bent rim during X-Country trip

I used a 5'x8' Uhaul a few years back to move from GA to NC. No issues fitting the bike in although the tie downs are kind of lame -- wooden slats that run vertically throughout the inside with a few horizontal slats as well. I'm not so sure I would feel all that comfortable if I ever got into...

    Military FJR Owners

I've got this to say about the USAF: when it's dark and crappy out and I look out the paratroop door and see... dark and crappy (but no ground), I start looking for the USAF NOMEX reference point. One minute later... hasta la vista. When in doubt, I've always tended to believe in the crews...

    Trailer my FJR

I trailered my bike pretty much the same as John described and it survived a head-on collision at about 55 mph with nary a scratch. I was driving my Ford Explorer (loaded for bear) with trailer (and FJR) attached when a guy ran a red light and got T-boned (by guess who...). Anyway, took the...

Who's got the most miles on their FJR??

62k on my '01 FJR. I would have more, but two deployments kind of put a kink in the plans. So... 4.5 year-old JFR with 1.5 years in the sandbox = 3 years and 62k miles. Not bad, I guess.

    New Board - New Topics

For you gents asking about the bags... If you spin the rear wheel (a little too much throttle) while in wet grass - as expected - the bike spins out. What happens to the bags is the one that makes contact with the grass spins up and flips upside down (rotates from rear to front). Point of...

    traffic rules in your country??

My understanding of the CA law is that "lane-splitting" per se, is not legal. What allows motorcycles to share lanes with cars is a law stating that a bike and car may share a lane as long as it is safe. Although this may seem like semantics, in the event of determining liability (in case of...

    Commuter King?

Silver lakes, CA to Ft. Irwin, CA -- I believe around 120 miles r/t. 5 days a week for two weeks, then maybe once or twice a week for the remaining two weeks. I would kill for some scenery besides desert tortoises and jack rabbits. At this rate, I'm going to eat through some tires because the...

Would Ya Look At All The FJR's For Sale

I'm with most everyone. I'm keeping my '01! I've gotten so used to reading my speedo in KMs that I don't know that I could make the transition back to MPH! Besides, since I'm such a good dude... all you other "gotta have the latest and greatest" fellas can use it as a yardstick for the...
