Well I do happen to know the crew that installed that tire. As for the missing fork protectors, I have a spare set I'll mail off to the Geek.

I have the fork protector thingies. We just didn't put 'em on when we (other people - not me) serviced the forks.

Cleaning the oil seal is easier without the protector thing, but in the long run, it risks putting a dent in the fork tube that could be spendy, and the oil seals get contaminated much easier.

So I finally had time last night to really dive into this.

I bought a Sealmate a while back. Yesterday I finally had the time to pop off the dust seal and run the Sealmate around the erl seal.

After doing that I went out for a 90 minute ride.

So far so good. The fork is either completely outta erl or the seal is holding.

I missed this last month or I woulda shown you what mine looked like when I had the seals leaking. Like you, I thought it was the brake line, but when I saw it all over the fairing I realized it couldn't be brake fluid, as it cleaned up and left the luscious (and quicker) Liquid Silver color intact.
