Posting pictures

Being a bit, maybe more than a bit technically/computer illiterate just wondering what's the easiest way to post pictures on the forum? I have some items for sale.

Need to upload them to a photosharing site such as photobucket, and then paste direct links of those pix using the editor (look for an image icon in the tool bar of the editor) when you start your for sale thread.

What is the reason for not being able to upload them directly? Just curious.

I'm not an admin, but I believe among other things, it cuts down on server storage space requirements, since the photos are hosted elsewhere.
